Been a while. Still at it as well as doing my freelance
game
music.
I've
decided
to work
on a
side
project
to help
as a
prototype
for the
different
parts
of my
engine.
I still
plan
on writing
a story
of sorts
and applying
it to
an rpg
type
game.
The other
project
will
probably
have
a small
beta
demo
before
I start
real
work
on the
rpg.
I probably
need
some help
though.
I wonder... |

Still at it! I've changed the site up a bit and
added
a few
of the
things
I've
worked
on and
been
training
with.
I can
probably
do everything
the project
calls
for but
I need
about
10 people
to take
a year
out of
their
spare
time.
I can
do it
by myself
in 10
years...
but I'll
settle
for something
in the
middle.
The story still gets re-written on occasion with whole chapters
getting
trashed
and re-written.
I'm thinking
about
doing
a detailed
outline
and begging
a friend
or hireing
someone
who can
help
fill
in details
and kill
plot
complications.

I'm using Dark GDK right now for our engine. Being
the only
programmer,
story
writer...
or any
active
member
really...
is taking
a toll
on the
production.
At least
I'm not
under
a publisher
deadline
at all.
But I'll
get this
game
out if
it's
the last
thing
I do.
I have
to finnish
my first
game
idea
so I
can do
the other
500 ideas
I have.

Okay. This is where things get weird. The whole
concept
has taken
a U-turn.
I've
been
way too
inspired
in my
programming
by the
idea
of Spore
using
generative
systems
has made
me change
the way
I do
things.
It's
still
going
to be
a Role
Playing
game
that
will
probably
be very
console
like
in nature.
It will
be 3D,
I'm almost
positive.
The story
won't
change
much
but no
one really
knows
the story
so, it
doesn't
much
matter.
It will
have
quite
a different
touch
though
both
visually and by
sound.
Again
this
will probably
add a
few years
to the
development
cycle
but I
think I've
got some
side
projects
that
I can
put up
for free
as time
goes
by. That's
all for
now!

Still at it! Writing some sound libraries and still
figuring
out the
story
stuff.
Since
I'm sorta
at a
stand
still
with
the editor
and the
artist
is on
haitus
I'm the
only
person
working
on the
project.
Yeah,
it looks
dead...
but it
isn't!
I figure
it'll
take
as long
as a
normal
comercial
quality
game
would
with
just
a few
people
available
to work
on it.
I think
I'll
break
down
and start
beggin
people
for help.

The story process is taking longer due to constant
restructuring.
It may
take
as long
as a
year
to finnish
since
I can't
devote
%100
of my
workable
time.
I doubt
I've
shown
any stability
in this
project
that
merits
donations.
However,
that
would
be the
only
way to
make
this
game
come
out any
quicker.
Once
the story
is finnished
if something
a bit
more
3d than
RPG maker
XP is
out I'll
probably
be switching
over
to that.

Don't worry about lack of updates. Right now I'm
refining
the story.
The Art
Department
is on
hiatus
until
a solid
story
is ready.
That
includes
the character
design
and background
artists
so I
don't
think
we'll
have
anything
up anytime
soon
unless
I can
get some
concept
in. Don't
be suprized
to see
the game
leap
from
RPG Maker
XP to
a 3d
platform.
It depends
on what
I can
pull
out of
my ass
in the
next
6 months.

Everything is going ok. Don't expect to be playing
a demo
until
the end
of the
year
or later...
but it's
happening.
-Benjamin
I sure need to put some of my cool ass concept art and some
other
goodies
up soon!

Some cool concept art, that I hope will be ready
for your
viewing
soon,
is ready.
Other
than
that
we are
just
building
on everything
mentioned
in the
earlier
posts.
I guess
these
things
take
time? |
| April 15, 2006 |
The first act is now being edited, in it's third
revision.
I've
conceptualized
the second
Act as
well
as the
third
hero.
More
character
concept
art has
been
made
and hopefully
you can
see that
very
soon.
I cannot
say how
many
different
heroes
we will
end up
having
however
it's
looking
like
no less
than
10. I
can say
the following:
- Most
characters
will
be
female.
This
is
due
to
a
strategic
fighting
element
that
consists
of
relationship
with
female
characters
and
combinations
in
battle.
It's
not
known
if
this
element
will
be
a
necessity
but
more
than
likely
you
can
opt
out
in
some
fashion
so
you
aren't
forced
into
such
a
deviation
of
traditional play. If we feel this system won't work as we
have
planned then it will not be developed further. It's kinda-sorta like
the
spell combos in Chrono Trigger with a dating game mixed in.
- There
are
currently
no
plans
for
same
sex
relationship
types
due
to
mixed
convictions
of
the
staff,
thus
adding
to
the
larger female
cast.
- There
are
no
plans for
a
more varied
main
hero
or
"character creation" as
that
isn't quite
the
aim
of this particular
story.

I don't believe in making publicly available status
reports
(ie,
signatures
that
have
the percentage
of certain
areas
complete...)
but I do
like
saying what
is going
on. So
far we
have
one act
written
(revising)
and have
visually
conceived
our first
2 heroes.
The text
system
is constantly being
fiddled
with.
Most
of what
is needed in the
sound
system
is finished.
I'm working
on an
external
.dll
for some
graphics.text
work as well
as part
of our
system
console.
Something
the default
RMXP
lacks
severely.
That's
pretty
much
what
was done
so far.
Maybe
It'll
go a
little
faster
with
more
help.
