Read About Our Library :
The library has approximately 6,000 volumes and is located on the second floor of the educational wing of the church. The library is open weekdays during church office hours (8:00--4:00) and on Sunday mornings. Each individual checks out his or her own book or other library material. Just follow the instructions displayed on top of the card catalog. The suggested loan period is 4 weeks.
The card catalog has the traditional dictionary arrangement meaning that one can search under author, title or subject. Each book in this library, therefore has at least 3 cards [2 cards for fiction] in the catalog for the reader to use. That is, one card is filed alphabetically under author's last name, another card is filed alphabetically under the title, and the third card is filed alphabetically under a main subject heading if that book is non-fiction. It will be helpful to know that for the most part, historical subject headings are used, for example, a commentary on the Books of Acts will be found first under New Testament and then secondly under Acts.
The library has sets of Commentaries. Two well known Bible Commentaries are the New Interpreter's Bible and the Westminster Companion Bible Study. Some do not circulate and as such are labeled Reference, meaning that they must be used in the library. For example, the New Interpreter's Bible set does not circulate. The library also has Concordances and Atlases. There is a section devoted to Biographies. There is also an extensive collection of books devoted to Christian Living.
The library does have a few videos and tapes. They will be located on the South Bookshelves.
The library has childrens' books which are divided into two main age groups.
