third day tribe

Mark Robbins Biography

Yes! Here it is. The untold short story of my great and exciting life. Whats the most important thing in my life? That's pretty easy to answer. I serve our Lord and God, the King of Kings. Take a look at my Third Day Tribe page to see what I am all about.

The next most important thing in my life is my daughter. Ellie is the star in my life. She's 7 years old this year & loves Jesus, fishing and going on hikes with dad to look for animals tracks. I'm proud to say on Apr 15th of 2005 she caught her first fish (a 10 inch rainbow trout.) Since then she become quite skilled at catching trout, catfish and bluegills. She enjoys fishing for sure. Tho I think lately Bratz dolls are pushing fishing out. Children are our most important blessing and legacy. You've got to raise em up to love, worship and respect God.

On with my story!

Born a simple guy, I grew up an Air Force brat, and when I turned 20 I joined the Navy instead of the Air Farce. After graduating from bootcamp, I left for Naval Air Station Millington, TN to became a Aviation Structural Mechanic (AMS of course) ultimately earning the coveted Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist 'wings' the Navy Achievement Medal and being meritorously promoted to E-6. While all that previous mentioned stuff is okay, any salty squid knows that THE most important thing a sailor can do in their career, is to become a Trusty Shellback.

I spent 12 years in the Navy. My first tour of duty was in a adversary sqadron (VA-127 Cylons) located in the irrigated desert of Lemoore, Ca. We flew A-4E, A-4F, & TA-4J Skyhawks. Our mission was to look and play the part of warsaw pact & commie asian forces. Just like the homo's at TopGun. 3 and a half years later I left the Cylons for the worlds greatest attack squadron in the modern nuclear Navy. The 95th All Weather Medium Attack Sqaudron (aka "Green Lizards") stationed at NAS Whidbey Island, Wa.

As a Lizard I made 2 world cruises and a I.O. (Indian Ocean) cruise aboard the Enterprise (CVN-65.) In my sea duty days I worked the roof as a Flight Deck Coordinator & Troubleshooter on A-6 E and KA-6D Intruders. During my time there I was awarded the Navy Achevement medal, Enlisted Aviation Warfare wings, the Joint Meritorius Unit Commedation ribbon, both Armed Forces & Navy Expeditionary medals, 3 Battle E's, and various '"geedunk" ribbons and medals such as Sea Service and Good Conduct awards, plus assorted Letters of Commendation for example, like, saving 2 aircraft from fire mishaps. Cool stuff...., but it dont get ya a extra $$$ or a pay raise out here in the working sand crab world. Some brief moments of fame and glory for me were "Operation Praying Mantis" where on April 18th 1988 where we "whomped and stomped" the Iranian Navy one grand Navy Day, the F14 flight deck "crash" where I was one of the crewmen carrying firehose in the movie " The Hunt for Red October." I also got to meet John Melius, director of "Flight of the Intruder" and "Red Dawn" when he toured with us Lizards and took a taxi ride on a Lizard A-6E of ours for the "Flight of the Intruder" movie!!

Finishing up my time in the Navy, I did a tour with the EA-6B Jammer or as its more popularly known as the "Queer" Navy with VAQ-129 "Vikings" also stationed at Whidbey Island. While the Jammer Navy was'nt near as fun as being in Medium Attack, it was during my last tour there when I got involved as a Volunteer Firefighter with Island Fire Dist 5. Any of you guys and gals at Whidbey ought to join up. Its a fantastic way to also serve your community, plus its exciting.....

Well... I left the Nav in '93 for greener (ie: $$$) pastures. Spent the next 10 years in the IT world being geeky (more exactly a techno-hillbilly,) working for several software companies (Autodesk being the biggest for example). I got a little burned out on that line of work, & then spent the next couple years working in the construction trades plumbing/pipefitting (UA Local 741) and sawing & drilling concrete. While its okay work, God is moving me back into technology again. Its time to pick up some new skills to prepare for the future. So for now, it's back to work and school in IT again. Meanwhile my heart lays in teaching and in ministry. I'll be chasing a BA in ministry as well.

You know....., you can do anything to earn a living, but you need to be following what your spirit (God or more specifically the Holy Ghost/Spirit) leads you to do. I would'nt recommend sacrificing your desires & dreams for mere money or for your family. Your "drawn" to those dreams and visions, because 7000 years ago, before the earth was formed, God held your spirit in the palm of His hands and blew the breath of life into you Jeremiah 1:5) He's got a plan for you and you need to be walking in it. Its there where success and happiness lays. If your life is empty, if your life is unfulfilling, if your life is dull, if your life is boring, if you are just plain unhappy. You are living your life without vision. I'd be asking myself "whats up" & "am I being obiedient to God" and then ask of God "What do I need to be doing?" Crack open that dusty Bible and read it, call your pastor. Heck, go hear from God Himself. Find a church that moves in the third day or prophetic in your area, or go visit one locally when they have a visiting Prophet. The bible sez in Proverbs 29:18 "Where there is no vision, the people perish:" Do you have a vision? If not, you need to get one!

And lastly, I like to relax and keep occupied with my hobbies. For fun, I love to play military board games like Advanced Aquad Leader for example and computer sims like Age of Empires II, Operation Flashpoint, MS Combat Flight Sim 1 & 2, and Mech Warrior IV. I enjoy tropical fish & aquariums and most recently reptiles. I just got my daughter a gopher snake (friends literally picked up a snake walking in the boonies looking for river rocks). I also like building black powder rifles, powderhorns, knives and of course photography & woodworking. If my hands are busy, I'm way happy. Last on the list of fun stuff to do, is anything PC related such as web design, 3D animation, gaming, computer drafting and graphic design.
