INTRODUCTION
These fundamentals of faith of YAHWEH'S Evangelical Assembly Evangelical Assembly Evangelical Assembly are tendered only for the purpose of summarizing some of our most basic doctrines. In actuality, we take the entire works of the original Holy Scriptures to be the inspired word of YAHWEH. It is our purpose to adhere to these basic tenets, however, it is not our purpose to force these issues on any one person. These doctrines must be adhered to on a personal level between each person and their Almighty Creator. It is not our purpose to legislate righteousness to any person, rather, it is our purpose to teach the Messiah YAHshua , how He fulfilled the Scriptures and to bring each person to Him for their own personal salvation.
If any further explanation or information should be desired or required, we will certainly be more than happy to comply. Please write to YAHWEH'S Evangelical Assembly, P. O. Box 31, Atlanta, TX 75551 or call 903-796-7420.
1. Elohim (G-d)
We believe that Elohim is a uni-plural common noun. It describes what our Creator is just like the term man or men describes humankind. While there may be more than one member of Elohim, specifically the Father and the Son, they are one as the Savior proclaimed, "I and My Father are one," Jn. 10:30.
The Father is greater than the Son (Jn. 14:28) and is Supreme over the heavens and the earth (1 Cor. 8:4-6; 15:24-28, Eph. 4:6). The Father is Spirit (Jn. 4:24). He is love (1 Jn. 4:8) and possesses all of the positive attributes of greatness. Even His judgment and wrath are out of love and mercy.
He is Creator of all things and the source of existence and being. He is pure and our service and worship of Him should be kept as pure and unspotted from the world as we can possibly get. Hence, we prefer to not utilize the word "God" in describing Him since this word stems from the paganistic background of the Teutonic and Anglo-Saxon peoples. We prefer to utilize El, Eloah and Elohim which are His own originally inspired words.
2. YAHshua the Messiah
We believe that YAHshua of Nazareth is the Son of Elohim, the Son of YAHWEH. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of the virgin Miriam, became flesh and dwelt among us (Mat. 1:18-25; Lk. 1:34-35, Jn. 1:14). Before His human birth, He existed eternally as Elohim (Jn. 1:1-2, 1 Jn. 1:1-2). The Father created all things by and through Him (Jn. 1:3, 10; Col. 1:16). He is the Messiah (the Anointed One) sent from the Father to be our Savior and Redeemer (Jn. 1:29; 3:15-17; Acts 4:12).
3. The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the power of YAHWEH and YAHshua the Messiah. Spirit is translated as Ruach in Hebrew and Pneuma in Greek. Both words have to do with spirit and breath. It imparts the power to live, move, and perform. It imparts wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. It imparts the power to live eternally. It is by the power of the Holy Spirit that the Father and Son are bound into their oneness (Jn. 10:30). It is by the Holy Spirit that we can become one with the Father and Son (Jn. 17:17-23). It imparts the intellect of Elohim in contrast to the intellect of man (1 Cor. 1:11-13). It imparts the spirit of the Messiah so that the righteousness of the law may be fulfilled in His disciples and that they may truly be His (Ro. 8:4-9).
4. The Holy Names
We believe that the true name of the Heavenly Father is YAHWEH (hwhy) [the English equivalent of the Hebrew letters in the name of YAHWEH written from right to left as Hebrew is written] as revealed in the Hebrew Scriptures and that the name of His Son is YAHshua (the salvation of YAHWEH). We must call upon His name for salvation (Joel 3:32; Acts 2:21; Ro. 10:13; Psa. 3:4). His name has been purposely taken out of Scripture which has led to man being deceived into following false elohim. It is one of the purposes of this ministry to revive the knowledge and importance of the Holy names.
5. The Holy Scriptures
We believe that the original Scriptures called the Old and New Testaments are the inspired word of YAHWEH (2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Pet. 1:21) and are the foundation of all true wisdom, knowledge and understanding (Prov. 3:19-20). They are written in parables (Heb. 9:1-9) and mysteries (1 Cor. 2:6) which can be understood only by those who possess the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 2:11). All doctrines and philosophies which are contrary to YAHWEH’S word are false. The Holy Scriptures reveal YAHWEH’S plan of salvation which has been hidden in the Messiah before the foundation of the world (1 Cor. 1:7; 1 Pet. 1:20; Mat. 13:34-35).
6. The Ten Commandments
The ten commandments are YAHWEH’S righteous law (Ex. 20; Dt. 5). They explain the true way to life and blessings. The commandments are truth (Psa. 119:151) and righteousness (Psa. 119:172). The real New Covenant promise is that YAHWEH personally will write His law in our hearts and minds and He will be our Elohim and we will be His people (Jer. 31:31-34; Heb. 8:8-12). They are not and will not be done away. They are spiritual and fulfill the way of love toward Elohim and neighbor.
7. The Sabbath
The true day of rest and worship is the seventh day Sabbath (known as Saturday to the world). This is one of the important 10 commandments. It is a memorial to YAHWEH’S creation (Gen. 2:2-3; Lev. 23:1-3). It is a sign between YAHWEH and His people that He is their Elohim and they are His people (Ex. 32:12-17) and it is a shadow of things to come (Col. 2:16-17). Therefore, it is important that YAHWEH’S people obey Him in observance of this day.
8. The Annual Holy Days
There are also annual Holy Days or Sabbaths that we must observe for they remind us of YAHWEH’S powerful plan of salvation. Therefore, it is important that we observe the Passover and the Days of Unleavened Bread which is not only commanded in the Old Testament (Lev. 23:4-22), but also is a command of the New Testament (Mat. 26:18-29; Mk. 14:12-25; Lk. 22:1-20; 1 Cor. 5:7-8; 11:23-26). The next Holy Day, Pentecost, is the anniversary of the birth of the New Covenant Assembly (Acts 2; Lev. 23:15-17). The Feast of Trumpets is a shadow of the return of the Messiah (Lev. 23:24-25). The Day of Atonement is a shadow of the atoning blood of the Messiah (Ro. 5:6-11; Lev. 23:26-32). The Feast of Tabernacles is a shadow of the coming kingdom of heaven (Lev. 23:33-36). The Last Great Day is a shadow of the final judgment (Lev. 23:36).
9. The Kingdom of Heaven
This world, this day and this age is not nor can it be the kingdom age. YAHshua told Pilate that his kingdom was not of this world (cosmos, age). If it were then His servants would fight in order that He might not be delivered to the Jews and to death (Jn. 18:36). YAHshua's disciples asked Him if He were going to restore the kingdom to Israel in their day, but He told them to go and bear witness of Him. It was not for them to know the times or seasons which the Father had in His own power (Acts 1:6-7). It is our responsibility to advise the world that the kingdom of heaven will soon be instituted on earth under the hand of YAHshua the Messiah. In the meantime, we are to be subject to the powers that be as long as their rules and regulations do not come in conflict with YAHWEH’S word. When the kingdom does come in its power, the ruling authorities of today’s world will be overthrown and the new rulers will be the Messiah and those who are His at His coming.
10. Man
We believe that man (Adam and Eve) was originally created out of the dust of the ground in accordance with the creation account found in Gen. 1:26-27; 2:7, 20-23. Man was created in Elohim’s own image and made Sovereign over all the earth. Man was originally created pure and good with no sin, corruption or death working in his members. It was the first man who rebelled against YAHWEH’S commandment, ate of the forbidden fruit (Gen. 2:16-17; 3:6) and brought sin, corruption and death upon all of his descendants (Ro. 5:12-21). Thus, from the outset man has been in need of a Savior and Redeemer to purchase and deliver him from his misery
11. Sin & Grace
We believe that sin is the transgression of YAHWEH’S law (1 Jn. 3:4), that all men have sinned and fallen short of the glory of Elohim (Ro. 3:23) and that the penalty of sin is death (Ro. 6:23). The only way to be delivered from this sinful state is to be called (Jn. 6:44), chosen or elected (Mk. 13:20; 1 Pet. 2:9-10), repent and be baptized in the name of YAHshua the Messiah for the remission of sins, receive the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38) and continue in faithfulness (1 Cor. 4:1-2). YAHshua revealed that many are called, but few are chosen (Mat. 20:16; 22:14). These conditions apply to this present evil age.
Grace is free unmerited pardon. It is a free gift from the Father of grace (Ro. 6:23).
12. Satan
We believe that Satan is that old serpent called the devil and Satan which deceives the whole world (Rev. 12:9). He is first revealed in Gen. 3. He is the god of this world who has blinded all men who do not have the Spirit of YAHWEH (2 Cor. 4:4). He is the prince of the power of the air who works in the children of disobedience (Eph. 2:2) He is YAHWEH’S adversary and is continually working to thwart the efforts of his saints to do his work on the earth. He will eventually be destroyed (Ez. 28:12-19; Rev. 20:10).
13. The Assembly
The New Testament Assembly is a spiritual organism which is presently made up of physical members. It is the body of the Messiah (1 Cor. 12:12-27). YAHshua is the Head of the Assembly (Eph. 1:22-23). The members serve as parts of the body. To become a member of the body one must be called by the Father (Jn. 6:44), repent of his/her sins, be baptized in the name of the Messiah (Acts 2:38) and receive the Holy Spirit by the laying on of the hands of the ministry. The assembly is organized by the Father (1 Cor. 12:28-31). Each believer is a temple of the Messiah.
14. The Resurrection
Each believer must remain faithful to the walk in the Messiah until death or the intervention of the kingdom at which time the dead in the Messiah will be raised from the grave or the living changed whichever condition they are in on the day of the resurrection (1 Cor. 15:50-55).
15. Repentance
Each person who is called to the body of Messiah must repent of their sins (lawbreaking 1 Jn. 3:4). To repent not only means to be sorry for one’s misdeeds, but it also means to change the way we live and walk so that we are brought into compliance with YAHWEH’S word.
16. Baptism
A person who is called and repents should be baptized in the true name of the Messiah (Acts 4:12) by an ordained elder in the true faith. A repentant person should be fully immersed in water signifying the complete death of the flesh in order to be raised up a new person.
17. New Moons
The current civil calendar that the world goes by stems from the emperors of Rome. Julius and Augustus Caesar played a great part in the institution of the current calendar along with Pope Gregory. When we look up the definitions of the words moon and month whether in Hebrew or English, we quickly find that the word month, itself, stems from the word moon and essentially means the same.
YAHWEH’S calendar is based on the sun, moon and stars (Gen. 1:14-16). A true month is based on a lunation (cycle) of the moon. Thus, our holy calendar is based on observation of the new moon (the visible crescent). Our months, for the purpose of calculating the holy days, is based on the lunar cycles.
The first month of our holy year is Abib or Nissan (Ex. 12:1-2) which occurs around March or April on the Roman civil calendar.
18. Clean and Unclean Foods
We observe the law of clean and unclean foods found in Lev. 11. When the Apostle Peter saw the vision of unclean animals with the command to rise up, kill and eat (Acts 10:9-16), he pondered the meaning of the vision (v. 17-19). His determination of the vision was not that unclean meats were now cleansed and edible, but that YAHWEH had shown Him that no man was to be called common or unclean (v. 28).
Others have utilized YAHshua's confrontation with the Pharisees concerning His disciples eating with unwashed hands (Mat. 15:1-20; Mk. 7:1-23) in order to justify eating unclean foods, however, the subject was unwashed hands and not unclean meats and the incident with Peter in Acts 10 reveals that YAHshua did not justify the eating of unclean foods since this occurred (Acts 10) well after YAHshua's death and resurrection and Peter still resisted eating anything unclean.
