Glendale Train DepotThe village of Glendale is truly one of the most unique and quaint locations in Ohio. It is home to approximately 985 families (around 2445 people) who live in an area of about one-and-a-half square miles ( 4.316 square kilometers). Glendale is governed by a Mayor and six Councilmen who are paid exactly the same amount as they were in 1855--absolutely nothing.

The village, conceived as a totally independent community, has its own water works, sewer system and police department, as well as a volunteer fire department. It is surrounded by more than a mile of greenbelt.
Glendale Village SquareThe Glendale Historic District comprises 392 acres of the Village and was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. It received the Historic Landmark designation by the Department of the Interior in 1977. With this special recognition, Glendale joined such illustrious company as the Charleston Historic District and even the Alamo. Glendale was awarded this distinction because it is the earliest known "planned subdivision" in America -- laid out in a curvilinear plan according to the gently rolling hills topography. Prior to this, towns were normally plated on a grid system. Glendale is also known as the first planned railroad commuter town in the United States.

This quiet, picturesque New England type village, fervently protected from zoning changes, was founded in 1851 with 600 acres of beautiful rolling land. Winding streets, parks, a lake and fine fomes in a planed arrangement was, at that time, a unique concept. Glendale's unique street plan and architectural heritage is chronicled in books published from 1869 to the present. Once a country suburb of Cincinnati reached by rail, the Village is now situated in the bustling Millcreek Valley, near major financial, industrial, and shopping centers. Stimulated by the aesthetic qualities of the Village, its residents have not settled for the mediocre. Parks, public services, and schools are maintained to the highest standards. The Princeton City School District serving Glendale has a national distinction for its advanced curriculum and comprehensive programs.

A unique rapport and mutual respect, evident at social gatherings here, exists between residents of all ages and backgrounds, adding greatly to the friendly, informal mood of the village. A caring, friendly, beautiful, and safe place for you and your family.Approximate driving time from Glendale to downtown Cincinnati is 20-25 minutes. Glendale is located north of Cincinnati, just inside I-275. Take I-75 past I-275, then take the first exit (Sharon Road/Glendale).

Glendale is positioned 39.27 degrees north of the equator and 84.45 degrees west of the prime meridia.
