What is Biological Holistic Dentistry?

Biological Holistic Dentistry stresses the use of non-toxic restorative materials for dental work, and focuses on the unrecognized impact that dental toxins and hidden dental infections can have on overall health. Biological Dentistry treats the teeth, jaw, and related structures with specific regard to how treatment will effect the entire body.

"Dental infections and dental disturbances can cause pain and dysfunction throughout the body," states Edward Arana, D.D.S., President of The American Academy of Biological Dentistry, "including limited motion and loose tendons, ligaments, and muscles. Structural and physiological dysfunction can also occur, impairing organs and glands."

There can be several major types of dental problems that can cause illness and dysfunction in the body:

Some of the more common causes of these dental problems are impacted or unerupted teeth (teeth that have not broken through the gums), wisdom teeth, amalgam filled cavities, root canals, cysts, and bone cavities. These conditions can be diagnosed using methods such as blood tests, applied kinesiology, and Electro-acupuncture Biofeedback. Also, a thorough review of the patient's medical and dental history is not only important but essential. Click one of the links above to find out more.
