Hopefully A Little Biblical Insight Into Your Question(s)...

Can I Be Saved?

The simplest and most accurate answer to your question is in fact, "Yes". My friend, indeed you can be saved, but let me first ask you this: What exactly is it that you wish or hope to be saved from and/or saved to? If you are not really sure, that is okay, the mere fact that you have a desire to ask such a question as, "Can I be saved" carries with it the assumption that indeed the Holy Spirit is already dealing with you about it.

Scripture declares that we (all mankind) are sinners [Romans 3:23]. Because we are sinners, we are out of fellowship with God and are actually enemies of the Most High [Romans 5:10]. We are out of fellowship with God because we do not believe in Him [John 3:18] and we transgress His law [1 John 3:4] making us unholy, wicked, and worthy of death and punishment [Romans 6:23] from a holy, perfect God.

In and of ourselves we are without hope, blinded to the truth [2 Corinthians 4:4], unrighteous in all our works [Isaiah 64:6], and have not the ability to know or understand the things of God [1 Corinthians 2:14]; therefore, we do not even seek Him [Romans 3:11]. Because we are blind and spiritually dead [Ephesians 2:1], we do not realize that we are sick and that coming to Christ will indeed save us.

Scripture declares we must repent of our sin [2 Corinthians 7:10], by turning away from sin unto the Lord Jesus Christ. How is this accomplished? But putting one's faith in the finished work of Christ on Calvary. What did Christ do on Calvary? He broke down the wall between God and man and by faith in Christ (the way, the truth, and the life [John 14:6]) one may have fellowship again with God through the one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus [1 Timothy 2:5].

Because man is unable to come to God, (because we are sinners and unholy, we are unable to approach the holy and just God) God came to man through Jesus Christ [Luke 19:10]. He was born of a virgin [Matthew 1:23] and lived a sinless life [Hebrews 4:15], for man is unable to. Although Christ was found without blame, He was the Lamb to the slaughter [Revelation 5:12], and was delivered for our offences (our sins) [Romans 4:25]. He submitted to the cross, so that man, through faith in His sacrifice, could be redeemed. Christ gave His life on the cross and was buried. He rose from the day as He said and as it was prophesied He would do for the justification of all which shall put their trust in Him.

Because man can not, Christ did! Put your faith in the finished work of Christ. Acknowledge that you are a sinner and indeed need God. Repent (turn from your sin, to God) and ask Christ, in faith, by the grace of God to take you, forgive you, and wash you white as snow. Allow Christ to restore fellowship between you and God the Father by putting your trust in Him.

You cannot earn salvation (forgiveness of sin) by anything you can do, but have no fear, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved." Trust in Christ and you will be saved from sin and the wrath of God, and save unto eternal life [John 11:25]!

Am I Saved?

Dear friend, this indeed, is a very important question, so I am glad you have asked it. I must admit that I am unable to answer you with a definite answer of yes or no. Only you and God know if you have trusted in Him or not.

My guess is that you are asking because you are doubting your salvation for one of two reasons: [1] You are not saved and the Holy Spirit is convicting you of your sin and need to repent, or [2] You are saved but are backslidden and the Holy Spirit is convicting you of your sin and need to repent.

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." [1 John 1:9]

First question you should ask yourself is: "Why do I believe that I am save?" If the first thought you have is, "I prayed", "I walked the isle", or "I raised my hand", you may want to consider what is written above under Can I Be Saved?. Salvation does not come by prayer, walking the isle, or raising our hands; although it may accompany them. Salvation comes by putting our faith in the work of Christ, not in any work we may do.

I would suggest that you assume that you are not saved, rather than assume you are - yet be not. Repent and come to Christ in faith that He is able to both forgive and cleanse you from all unrighteousness. If you are saved, it is but a revival in your life to begin a new walk with God. If you are not saved, trusting in Christ is the most important thing you could ever do, for it has eternal blessings attached to it.

Don't let someone convince you that you are "okay" with God. If you are in doubt, it is for a reason, "Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure" [2 Peter 1:10].

Must I Go To Church?

My friend, I fear that there is a much deeper issue than simply "Must I go to church", for one to ask such a question. I can't help but wonder why a person that claims to be a child of God would even ponder the thought of not going to church. Church attendance is not a requirement to keep salvation, but should be a desire brought forth from salvation. The flesh indeed may fight it, but the spirit desires it [Romans 8:5].

God has given us the local church for a reason: [Ephesians 4]

11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: 14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: 16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

What better place to be to grow in knowledge, wisdom, understanding, and closer to Christ than by listening, watching, and following older mature Christians? I don't mean blindly, but by watching them through the eyes of scripture [Acts 17:11]; not to critique, but to help you mature in spiritual things. Learn from their example [1 Timothy 4:12].

So to answer your question, "Must I go to church?" - if you want to be obedient to God and grow as a Christian, I would say, "Yes."

How Can I Witness?

That my friend, is a marvelous question, and gives us a glimpse of the very Spirit which indwells every believer which moves them to care for the souls of others. There is no doubt that someone has prayed and/or witnessed to you at some point in your life and even as much as up to this very minute. Indeed, a desire to witness flows from the very heart of Christ, for it was He which told His disciples, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." [Mark 16:15] We may not all be pastors, missionaries, or evangelist, but, dear friend, we may all proclaim the blessed gospel which has the power to save! [1 Corinthians 1:18]

There are plenty of ways to witness which could never be exhausted, but before you venture out as a light in the darkness please make sure that you are prepared. We need to pray that we will be Spiritually minded and that the Spirit of God will go before us to move within all those that we come in contact with. Have a Bible, even if it is only a pocket edition, so that it will enable you to be able to show the individual the scriptures themselves and not just simply talking about them. Tracts and biblical material that can be given to each person to read and re-read on their own time is better than leaving them with nothing, for some may not have even a Bible in their homes. Testimony has given proof that such material often emerges even years later with power from above to lead the reader to Christ.

Do not create a system! This is very important! Please witness as the Spirit leads you in each individual case. This is why we must be in a continual state of prayer for both ourselves and the souls we witness to. Too often we can become lazy or accustom to one way of doing something and fail to see that it is indeed God which saves and not our system of witnessing. We are to present the gospel according to scripture, God will do the rest. [1 Corinthians 3:5-7]

A few things to remember as you witness for the cause of Christ, so that you do not become weary in well doing and disheartened to the point of quitting the work of God: [1] It is God who saves, your job is only to present the gospel and allow people to see Christ in you. Although you should present it with true enthusiasm and honesty, salvation lies in the hands of God and not the eloquence of speech or the presentation which you give. [2] Those that reject your witness are not rejecting you, but rejecting Christ, so do not take it personally but pray for them that God may open their eyes. [3] Keep in mind that you were once unsaved, and the unsaved are only acting within their character to reject the gospel. They are blinded by the god of this world [2 Corinthians 4:4] and they can not receive or know the things of God, being natural; therefore, without the Spirit, they find the words of life but foolishness [1 Corinthians 2:14].

Do not forgot about those most close around you or the ones you see most frequent. It is easy to become more concerned for those we see and do not know, and accidentally forget those we see everyday: maybe even in our local church. Ones that attend every Sunday, which have yet accepted Christ as Savior; especially the children we sometimes overlook. Be not scared to witness to thy family and friends, for to lose them for eternity would be much worse that the awkwardness we may currently feel.

Do not lose hope and count anyone as un-savable. "With God all things are possible". [Matthew 19:26] Not everyone gets saved the first time they are witnessed to. So, do not give up hope until there is no breath left in them to believe. For as long as one live, there is the opportunity of salvation.
