My Favorite Books Page

These are some of my favorite
books- I have enjoyed reading them all and exceedingly recommend them.
1.
Wings of Dawn by Sigmund Brower My favorite book-depicting the epic ancient war
of the Merlins and the druids. This is the best novel, in my opinion, that
Sigmund Brouwer has ever written. Wings of dawn (also re-printed as "Magnus") is
an exciting, off-beat, fast-paced novel, that you will not be able to put down.
The first time I read it I could not stop. It is so fast and has so many
unexpected twists and turns that I could not help but keep reading, I was drawn
into the story.
2. The Oath by Frank Peretti One of the best terror
thrillers I have read- a great illustration of sin's unobserved destructive
powers. This horror novel is, in a way, an analogy. It shows sin incarnate, in
the form of a demonic dragon. It is very high-paced and unexpected, with lots of
hunting- whether it be for a giant killer bear or transparently camouflaged
dragons.
3. Double Helix by Sigmund Brouwer Double Helix is a brilliant
novel which exhibits superbly the danger and possible horror of genetics
manipulation and other sciences. The moral of the entire 306 page novel is
excellent: "Man's lust for immortality breads the ultimate immorality". This is
a great book on the evil that might, or is, working its way into science- such
as raising children just to manipulate them and/or harvest their organs or take
people from other third-world countries. Brouwer shows the horror and evil that
could result from "science", if precautions are not set in place.
4.
Hangman's Curse, the Veritas project by Frank Peretti An intriguing horror novel
with a twist of satanic evil. A high school is terrorized by a curse: one that
is invoked by a symbol on the person's locker. All who receive the mark go crazy
and then die. When the truth starts to unravel, witchcraft comes into play, and
an evil that goes deeper than it.
5. Monster by Frank Peretti Monster is
about…well…a monster. It was interesting yet somewhat predictable. Its ending
was unexpected and weird, for the entire time you are expecting the Bigfoot-like
monster to be the "monster" the title is referring to. Yet its not: they are not
involved with the other events. It is interesting to see how Peretti describes
the yetties, and their interaction with mutants. It has some great information
on the theory of evolution, which is nice to see in such a popular novel. This
is Peretti's latest novel.
Other good books
1. The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandra Dumas -a very interesting
classic book, the story of Edmond Dantes, and his incredible journey of justice.
2. The Weeping Chamber by Sigmund Brouwer- an off-beat novel, written from
the perspective of Simon of cypress.
3. The Savage Garden by Peter D'Amato-
raise or interested in carnivorous plants? Then read this book, it has a huge
amount of information and pictures of some of the weirdest and rare carnivorous
plants.
4. . The Black Pearl by Scott O'Dell-A very unique novel about the
finding of the pearl of the world, and its curse on those who found
it.
