Visitors are welcome to join us for coffee hour in the Parish Hall following the service and to visit our Bookstore. Also, please sign our guestbook in the Narthex. Although the Orthodox Church does not practice inter-communion, visitors may come to the altar rail to receive the Priest's blessing and the Blessed Bread. Welcome!
Thank You: Thanks to Deacon Nicholas for doing the services last week to Deacon Nicholas and Rod Mayo for watching both the rectory property and the church while Father Theodore and Mat. Susan were away last week.
Lightning Damage: Please note that for the next few days the Parish telephone service will be out due to lightning damage last week. You will be able to leave a message only. Please contact Father Theodore at the Rectory telephone number in the directory, 556-6834, if you need him.
Vestry Meeting: There will be a Vestry Meeting today following the service. All Vestry members should plan to attend.
Floor Cleaning: Thanks to the St. Monica's Guild for organizing and paying for this needed project! Also, thanks to those who set the parish hall back up for coffee hour today.
St. Timon Sunday: At the direction of His Grace, Bishop Basil, next Sunday we will commemorate St. Timon, the first Bishop of our sister Diocese, Bosra Hauran. St. Timon was one of the seventy Apostles appointed by Christ (Luke 1) and one of the original Seven Deacons ordained by the Twelve Apostles in Acts 6:5. His Feast Day is April 19th.
Summer Reminder: Please keep in mind that we do not intend to stop our program because it is summer. We will continue to offer services and events. Many people use the summer months to explore different churches, so we need to be available if they want to come to us. The vestry would like to offer an event sometime this summer to attract people. Please let the vestry know if you have any suggestions.
Coffee Hour: Please sign up if you can bring treats for coffee hour. There is a new signup sheet in the parish hall. Thanks to Kaarina S. for bringing treats today!
Book Study: We continue our book study of Archimandrite Zacharias' work, The Enlargement of the Heart. We will meet again Tuesday, July 22 at 7:30 p.m., after Mass. All are welcome to attend. This is a very edifying book and is one you can jump in on at any point and find it relevant! If you do not have the book, it is available on Amazon.com. Please remember to go to Amazon through Goodsearch.com when you make your purchase!
Father Yanney Pilgrimage: Please pick up one of the flyers for the Diocesan Pilgrimage this October. Father Yanney was the first Orthodox priest in the entire region (the region being about the same size as our whole Diocese). The Clergy Brotherhood has purchased a new gravestone for his grave that will be blessed and prayers recited for the 90th anniversary of his death. Please plan to attend this important event Oct. 24-25 in Kearney.
