Asheville Bridge Creek paddle, 7.20.2008
No pictures for this paddle and it is now official that my waterproof camera is kaput! My non-waterproof digital camera is a piece of junk or I would have taken it and chanced getting it wet. I will probably get another waterproof camera but I am having such fun paddling, I might wait until the season is over.
I launched at Lotus Garden Park on Sandbridge Road at 4 PM. I paddled to the mouth of the creek (southeast from launch) and explored the offshoot that runs behind Blue Pete's Restaurant on Muddy Creek Road. I forgot to explore Muddy Creek though! I should have made a crude map before I went but it was late and I new the creek was not extremely complex. Unfortunately I didn't remember about Muddy Creek until I got home and looked at.....yeah, a map. So I will be heading back there.
This paddle reminded me a lot of Blackwater Creek in Virginia Beach (the eastern portion of it). Unfortunately that is not a good thing. It was a little boring for my tastes although it did have it's moments. I saw a new bird, a common tern. And, of course, it was a relaxing paddle.
If you are thinking about doing this paddle, don't be discouraged by my lackluster review. It is still better than sitting in traffic somewhere! Or working!
See ya next time.
