Paddling Trip on West Neck Creek, April 2004
I paddled West Neck Creek with my friend Bill and his son Billy. The put in is at the West Neck Marina which is only about a 1/4 mile Southeast of this area shown in the picture below.

We paddled the section of West Neck Creek from the West Neck Marina North to the Indian River Road bridge which is only about 2 or 3 miles. This picture is looking North while standing on the West Neck Road bridge. This particular picture was from a day in mid winter just before it started to snow. We didn't take any pictures on this trip.

This picture is looking South while standing on the West Neck Road bridge. The marina is off to the left and out of view. The right side of the picture shows West Neck Creek as it heads Southwest and eventually (2 miles or so) empties into the North Landing River. This picture was taken on the same winter day.
We had a very nice, but quick paddle. We explored several offshoots of the river and encountered a few fishing folks. This first part of the creek is wide and we pretty much set a pace to head North. Further up closer to the Indian River road bridge the creek is split by many little islands. We kept to the left and got up into a very small part of the creek where we rested and had a quick snack. We were only about a half mile from Indian River road at that point. On the trip back we took separate paths in the area where there were many islands and ended up emerging at about the same time. We saw a few snakes and not much more. This is a nice paddle but the sound of cars is present in the first part and last part of the paddle which lets you know you are not very far away from anything.
