Old Poway Park Rendevous

March 2006

~* Canceled due to Impending Storm *~

http://www.powaymidlandrr.org/rendezvous.htm

What happens at the Rendevous?

Historical encampments are set up, giving you a chance to meet cowboys, buckaroos, mountain men and women demonstrating what it was like to live in the turn-of-the-century and Civil War eras. The historical fair brings these eras to life with the smell of campfires, and the sounds of civil war era cannons, steam train whistles, and scattered shots from mock gun-fights. Experience period costumes, crafts, tomahawk throwing lessons, the music of the times and much more.

Poway Train Song Festival

October 7, 2006
14134 Midland Road
Poway, CA

Trails & Rails:
Gazebo Stage 10:00 - 10:45 AM
Green Park Stage 11:00 - 11:45 AM

The annual Train Song Festival is held at Old Poway Park in Poway, California. The free event, co-sponsored by the City of Poway and San Diego Folk Heritage, features live musical entertainment with songs inspired by the railroads. This one-of-a-kind event brings to life the history of American rails, songs that were inspired by the freedom to travel, the tragedies and triumphs of the railroad men, and the adventure of the hobos and other traveling folk, whose lives have been entwined with the trains.

During the day, in addition to the great train-related music, The Poway Midland Railroad gives train rides aboard its 1907 Baldwin Steam Engine; The Poway Station Model Railroad Club displays model trains in Templars Hall; Old Poway Park's western gun-fighting teams re-enact train robberies; children can have their faces painted, make train crafts, hear stories and see toy train displays and The Heritage Museum provides an historical train display.
