Bill Armstrong Introduction

Bill Armstrong was a very gifted businessman who had made a tremendous in the radio business when he decided that he wanted to enter politics. He ran for a won a state senate seat for ten years in Colorado, and then ran for a U.S. Congress seat for six years. Having a desire to be a U.S. Senator encouraged him to run for and be elected successfully for two six year terms as a U.S. Senator. He was such a strong proponent for term limits that he refused what would have been a shoe-in for a 3rd six year term, and immediately immersed himself into the Colorado business arena with both a huge real-estate company he bought and a mortgage company as well. Throughout his political and business career was a central theme of his life as a sold out for Jesus Christian who was always willing to stand up and be counted for Christ, and was known throughout the world as a strong Christian who was both a politician and a businessman.

I first met Bill at a political outing where he declared himself as a candidate for  a Colorado state senator position. We not only supported him for that position but for every political office he ran for through his final successful bid for a second term as a U.S. senator ion 1984.

What a blessing it was for Colorado as well as U.S. citizens to have Bill Armstrong in the U.S. Congress and Senate. I often felt that we needed more business people in politics as opposed to very small representation business seemed to have in our national offices. Bill and I would often talk about the problem and spent a lot of time trying to encourage more businessmen to be involved in the process. As a result of his efforts, Colorado had a large number of people from the business sector involved in politics, state wide as well as nationally.

Bill continued to be involved in the moral and ethical side of business and politics every chance he had. As a matter of fact, he would speak on the subject every time he was asked, and often was able to get dates changed so he could make the engagement if he had a conflict.

Bill and Ellen have one son and one daughter, and both his son and son-in-law are in business with him. Those of us that have had the privilege and pleasure to get to know Bill personally agree that he is one of the finest men that we have ever known, spiritually and mentally. God has gifted him with many gifts, and he continues to use them all. I only wish we had more men like him making a difference for the Kingdom of God.
