Sam Addoms – Introduction
Over twenty years ago I met a banker from Chicago who had come to Colorado to help a large Denver Bank put together a line of credit for one of their largest clients. That banker was Sam
Addoms, and he ended up being hired by that Colorado Company as its Chief Financial Officer.
Sam left that role as Chief Financial Officer after several years of helping to turn the company into
a very strong leader of its industry. He was involved in several different companies in Colorado when one of his old friends came to him with a tremendous idea and part of a plan to start an airline.
The airline was going to called Frontier airlines and they wanted Sam to be the President and C.E.O. In addition to that role, they also wanted him to raise the money and be headquartered in Denver,
because Denver was going to have a new five billion-dollar airport. Of course United dominated the Denver airport and they were going to be Frontier’s Goliath.
Sam has turned out to be such a
tremendous leader, that after six years in business, Frontier has over 1,200 employees with flights out of Denver, their hub, to the West Coast, East Coast, and many flights South and North. One of
the most important parts of the business for Sam was the luggage handling. He has insisted that all of the employees keep that high on their priority as they think about customer service, because most of their competition does
not think that way.
Sam and his wife Cathy live in Denver and have become very involved in the community. She writes one or two recipes every month for the Frontier magazine, and they have
learned to love living in Colorado providing an extremely valuable service for the airline industry.
