Ah, the famous Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee. Memphis is my home town so I am very familiar with it’s evolution from a slum to the current tourist attraction it is. The street is known as “The Home of the Blues”. Many a famous blues singer got his start in the old Honky-Tonk bars there.

I visited in May 2006 for some reason. I had a friend with me that wanted to see Elvis’s house and Beale Street, so off we went. Having grown up there they have no appeal to me. Here are a few of the many many pictures I took.

The famous Graceland. This view is from the center where my first insurance office was. It is all one gigantic tourist trap now.

It’s a long story about the shorts.

A friend.

Rum Boogie Café, duh, I guess you can read.

“Pork With an Attitude”

A view from Main Street down Beale.

See, he is NOT really dead.
