The elephant training camps in northern Thailand near Cambodia and Laos are very interesting to tourists. The elephants are required to go to school 8 years, the Thai peoples children only have to do 7 years mandatory education. Therefore, the elephants get all the good jobs and live better..

I musta got the youngest elephant jockey in the country ! :-) , He bummed cigarettes, ate the bananas I bought for the elephant, and took my bottled water. All under the guise that he did not speak English.
