Today we will go in the afternoon to get our official paperwork. Kendall is up early and we play for a while before breakfast. She has learned the throw something on the ground and pick it up game and is having great fun. Trish puts her down to see if she will pick up the toy, and she does after some coaxing. We then get her to stand up some, and eventually she is holding onto the table and walking with a few steps. These are the first steps we have gotten her to take even though the orphanage says she can walk alone. Her balance still seems a little off, but she is doing better.
We stay in the hotel in the morning. Trish's sinus infection is getting worse and she feels a bit dizzy. After breakfast, Tim and Kendall watch an Elmo movie while Mom takes a rest. We are doing fine until the housekeeping lady rings the bell. Kendall is not happy after this and it takes a while to console her. She seems tired, so we laid her down in her crib and she fussed for a while but then settled down and went to sleep. She slept for almost an hour and wakes up in a much better mood.
After her nap we started packing up our things. We are using large plastic bags to consolidate our things and make more space in the suitcase. Kendall likes playing with them and throwing them on the ground. We have fun trying to pack.
After lunch it is time to go to the hospital and pick up the physical examination form along with all the other documents. We get ready a little early and take Kendall outside for a while. She enjoys being outside and we let her play in a little grass with some leaves. She plays for about 15 minutes before she tries to eat a twig and Mom has to pick her up. She is not happy, but she can't eat sticks! We get in the van and drive to the hospital. Kendall is not happy about the car ride and throws another fit. We think she is getting tired again, but we have to go get papers. Once at the hospital we have to wait a few minutes to get the paperwork. Then the Social Welfare person is running late, and we need more documents from her. Kendall is very restless but Dawn takes her outside and calms her down a bit. This is the first time she has gone with someone else since Monday, so that is good. Maybe she will go to Daddy next!
We now have all of Kendall's official paperwork to take to the consulate. We travel to Guangzhou tomorrow to finish the process, and then home on Wednesday. We are ready to come home but we hope this extra time will help Kendall become used to us and be ready for the long trip home.
Tonight before dinner we were playing on the floor and Kendall too a few steps to Momma by herself! We were very excited. Mommy gave Kendall a toss in the air and she really laughed. She walked just a few steps but did it several times. After dinner we came back and played some more. She is starting to talk more and says Da-De, very slowly, and will say Momma when she wants Momma to do something. She also is saying Da and something else that we don't understand yet. This is progress!!
