Abstract of Revolutionary War pension record of ABRAHAM ANDERSON, South Carolina, #R202.

Application filed in 1852 at Habersham Co GA by Zadock Anderson, age 57, resident of Habersham Co, son of Abraham and his wife, Vilinda. Abraham's date and place of birth not mentioned. Application states Abraham married Vilinda Gilder about 1777 in Newberry District, South Carolina. About 1779 he entered the service as a horseman, possibly an officer, in Col. Waters' regiment. His first child was born while he was in the service. After his return from the service about 1783 he was elected a lieutenant in Newberry District.

Abraham died 9 May 1815, place not stated. Vilinda remained a widow until her death, which occurred on or about 17 Nov 1843, place not stated.

Zadock claimed the pension in the right of his mother, for himself, his sister Elizabeth Franklin and brothers Abel and John Anderson, "who are now the only surviving children of the aforesaid Abraham Anderson and his wife Vilinda". There had been at least two other children: Rosanah (the second child), who did not survive her mother, and a son Isaac, who was living in 1843.

Supporting affidavits were filed by David Williams and Daniel H. Bryson. Williams, age 80, a resident of Hall Co GA, filed 27 Mar 1852. He stated he was a personal acquaintance of Abraham and Vilinda in SC during the Revolution. Bryson, resident of Habersham Co, filed Jan 1853. Vilinda had unsuccessfully requested that he help her apply for a pension. "This was about the year 1838, in the mountainous region of Georgia, where but few men knew the pension law."
