1. THOMAS² ELMORE, JR. (THOMAS¹)¹ was born Abt. 1671 in St Peter Parish, New Kent County, Virginia², and died Bef. December 09, 1725 in New Kent County, Virginia. He married MARY AUSTIN. She was born Abt. 1675 in St Peter Parish, New Kent County, Virginia².

Notes for THOMAS ELMORE, JR.:

The earliest Elmores found in America were in Henrico County, Virginia, where there were two brothers, Thomas (father of the Thomas Elmore who married Cicely Ellyson), who married Mary _______, and Peter Elmore. The records of the baptism of their children are found in the old Parish Register of St. Peter's in New Kent, Amelia and Prince Edward -- but some of these counties were formed out of others, and it is difficult to know when they lived at each.

My ancestor is Ann Elmore daughter of John Elmore and Ann ?. I believe John is a son of Thomas and Mary ?. This would make us in the same line. Some of my information also came for "The Trunk of the Elmore Tree". Here are the notes which I have for John in my database which might be of interest.

BIRTH: 'The Vestry Book and Register of St. Peter's Parish, 1684-1786' p. 353, transcribed and edited by C. G. Chamberlayne, the Library Board, Richmond, 1937. Entry reads as follows: ' Jno Son of Thomas Elmore and Mary his wife bap't the 10 July 1698.' Also from Jerry Blaylock on BBS Past Reflections, 3 June 1996. Other information from Wm . & Mary Ross, 6933 Izard St., Omaha, NE 68132.

BIOGRAPHY: John was baptized the same day as his cousin William Elmore, son of Peter Elmore . These coincidental events were due to the church's extended lack of a minister and the eventual hiring of a Mr. Bowker for ministerial duties on the same day as the baptisms. These were the first such baptisms recorded for the Elmore family in New Kent County and it is believed the Elmores migrated from neighboring York County shortly before the baptisms. Like his siblings, John became a Quaker. John married An-Nah Wah-Kah a full blooded Indian who was orphaned early in life and raised by the Society of Friends. See Appendix I of 'The Trunk of an Elmore Family Tree', for comments on the family of John Elmore and An-Nah Wah-Kah.

The marriage of John to An-Nah Wah-kah (above) is different than the marriage with Elizabeth Harris that I show for him. I need to find out more as to whether either, or both, of these marriages are correct.
