d- 1 Dec 1777 was an ensign in Capt. Goode's
Company,

f- Mecklenburg Co. 1782 Census shows Wm F with a
household of 5w&4b, and Edw F also with 5w&4b.
g- Will dated 12 Feb 1800 which was probated 2 Feb
1801 naming his wife Mary, 4 living children
(Wm, Thos, Zach, and Anne), and several children of his dec'd sons; Edw's
(Elizabeth P, James, Wm, John, Edw, Adam, Powell, & Mary) and James' (Mary
F, Adam, Rebecca, John, & Wm).

"Lost Links" (LL) are, as follows:
LL shows only 3 sons (1 son is listed as James),
versus 5 sons (and James does not appear).
LL states that Adam died 1798, versus 1801.
Additional differences between John A. Sands and both Karen's and LL are:
Sands shows Adam to have been born in Virginia (either Charles City or New Kent counties), rather than England.
Sands shows Adam's wife (and her father) to have the surname "Thomson", rather than "Thompson".

WILL OF ADAM FINCH
I Adam Finch of the
my just debts & funeral charges are paid, I
lend unto my beloved wife Mary Finch during her natural life widowhood, the
plantation I now live on, and the following Slaves, namely, Torrey, Carter Jim,
Charles City Jim, Roger, Davey, Amey, Sue, Fanny, Sylvia, Winney, Milley, Cate,
Ned, Moses, Suckey, Lucy, Beney, Sarah, Annakey, and Letty and all their future
increase,
Nine head of horses, twenty five heads cattle,
Thirty heads of Sheep, and all my Stock of Hogs, all my household and kitchen
furniture and one copper still, and at her death to be divided as I shall
hereafter direct
- I give
and bequeath unto my beloved son Wm. Finch one certain tract or parcel of land
lying in the County of Mecklenburg on Middle Blue Stone Creek containing by
estimation two hundred acres be the same more or less, adjoining the lands of
Hutchens Burton, Rob Marshall, & to him and his heirs forever
-----I give and bequeath unto my beloved son
Thomas Finch, part of the land I purchased of Watton and part of a tract of
land I purchased of Marable adjoining the said Thomas Finch lands he purchased
of Clay and others beginning at a corner pine on Boyds line, thence a new line
choped to Jacob Herndon Spring, thence down the brance to Cargills Creck, and a
corner at a small ash, thence up the creek along Walton line, thence to said
Thomas Finchs line as it meanders to the beginning. Also one negro man Sam to
him and to his heirs forever,
--I give and bequeath to my beloved son, Zacheriah
Finch all that tract or parcel of lands I knw live on which I have lent unto
his Mother
during her natural life (exc that which has been
laid off for my son Thomas) which he is not to profit until after her death -
also one negro named Sob to him and his heirs forever
---I give
and bequeath unto Elizabeth C Finch daughter of my son Edward Finch, dec. one
negro girl named Patience with her future increase to her and her heirs forever
---I give and bequeath unto James Finch son of
Edward Finch deceased one negro boy named John to him and to his heirs forever
---- I give and bequeath unto William Finch son of
Edward Finch dec. one negro boy named Daniel to him and his heirs forever
---- I give and bequeath unto Mary Finch daughter
of my son Edward Finch dec. one negro girl named Phillis with her future
increase to her and her heirs forever-----
And wheras I have formerly given to each of my
children several negros which are still in their possession, I do now give and
bequeath to each of them the said negros to them and to their heirs forever
----In the further division of my estate which
will take place at death of my wife, I give and bequeath unto the children of
my son Edward Finch dec. namely, John Finch, Edward Finch, Adeline(?) Finch,
James Finch, Powel Finch, Elizabeth P. Finch, William Finch, and Mary Finch,
one eighth part of my estate to them and to their
heirs forever. To the children of my beloved son, John Finch dec. namely Mary
F. Finch, Adam Finch, Rebeccah Finch, John Finch, and William Finch, I give and
bequeath one six the part of my Estate to them and to their heirs
forever------
To my beloved daughter, Anne Elliott wife of
Martin Elliott, I give and bequeath one sixth part of my estate to her and her
heirs forever
-----To my son Thomas Finch I give and bequeath
one sixth part of my estate to him and to his heirs forever. To my son
Zacheriah Finch I give and bequeath one sixth part of my estate and at the time
of his mothers death, one copper still, to him and to his heirs forever.
Lastly I do
hereby constitute and appoint my two sons Thomas Finch and Zacheriah Finch my
whole and sole Executors of this my last Will and Testament revoking and
annulling all other wills by me here before made.
In witness hereof I have hereunto set my name this
twelth day of February, one thousand eight hundred.
