1.  ISAAC3 WHEELER, SR.  (THOMAS2, THOMAS1)1 was born 1646 in Lynn, Essex Co., Massachusetts, and died January 05, 1711/12 in North Stonington, New London Co., CT.  He married MARTHA PARKE January 10, 1666/67 in Stonington, New London Co., Connecticut, daughter of THOMAS PARKE and DOROTHY THOMPSON.  She was born October 27, 1646 in Wethersfield, Hartford Co., Connecticut, and died February 14, 1716/17 in Stonington, New London Co., Connecticut.  Isaac and Martha are buried at Whitehall Burial Grounds, Mystic/Stonington, CT.

     Isaac was born in Lynn, MA, 1646, and was married by Thomas Stanton, Jan. 10, 1667, to Martha, daughter of Thomas and Dorothy (Thompson) Park. He served in King Philip's War of 1675/6 and died June 5, 1712. She died Feb. 14, 1717, and they are both buried in Whitehall Cemetery.

     Came to Stonington, CT about 1685. He settled on lands which he purchased of the Winthrops, just north of what is now Old Mystic, near the junction of the Lantern Hill Road with the turnpike.

     He was murdered by the Indians while bear hunting near the Quinebaug River. Rudge Richard A. Wheeler says in his HISTORY OF STONINGTON: "...he met a squad of Indians, who were hunting in the same region who ordered him to clear out and leave the game to them, as they were the original owners of it--if he did not--they would kill and scalp him on the spot. He bid defiance to their threats, when they attacked him with their tomahawks and scalping knives. He defended himself as best he could, and a terrible struggle ensued which resulted in his death, and that of five of the Indians."

     She died Jan. 8, 1759.      He died July 1, 1750, aged 77 years.
