Tuck's Thought's

February 11, 2007

Hi everyone.  I had put a LOT of words up here, but after a good nites sleep, decided it would be best to KISS (Keep It Short and Sweet).

After several months of turmoil, and false accusations, I have decided to simply step back, and fade away from the San Diego section ARES. From the great Philospher, Mr. Spock from Star Trek, it is sometimes greater to sacrifice one than to sacrifice the many, or something along that line. I do not want to see ARES go thru yet another divisive period. It is a great organization, with a lot of fun activities. Just do me a big favor...try to stay out of the politics. It is not worth the time, or your stress.

Keep in touch folks, drop an e-mail from time to time.  73

Hi everyone...1st off, I would like to wish everyone a very Happy Holiday season.  I want to discuss something with each of you, and let you know of a decision that both my wife and I have made.

I have been an Amateur Radio operator now for over 15 years, and have enjoyed every moment of it..well, almost every moment.  There have been a few frustrating times. However, those a few in number.

I have had the pleasure of being President of not one, but 2 local clubs, being the Section Manager for San Diego, and even the Vice Director for the entire Southwestern Division for the ARRL. At the present time, I am both newsletter editor and webmaster for the San Diego DX Club, and Secretary for SANDRA.  I also ham team leader for the Chula Vista test site. I have tried to serve my fellow hams the best I can, and I do hope that most people think I have measured up to the task. I have also tried being active in public service. I believe very much that hams should help out when ever they can.

Saying all this, I simply want to announce that I will NOT be running for the Division Director this next year. My wife and I have discussed this, and except for the positions I now hold, I will back away, and start enjoying the hobby more, by actually getting on the radio, fathom that, lol.

I understand that a very good friend of mine is going to run for Director, and I encourage you to vote for him. He is a good man, and one who will serve you will. Who is that friend? I hope I am not announcing to early, but I think other people already know, but Carl Gardenias is the man you want to vote for. You can not go wrong!!

73 all,

Pride

1.a high or inordinate opinion of one's own dignity, importance, merit, or superiority, whether as cherished in the mind or as displayed in bearing, conduct, etc.

We all have pride. At times, we have to swallow that pride. For me, this is one of those times. For the past few months, I have allowed myself to be drawn into a situation, and have refused to admit I could be wrong. Well my good friends, that is over. There are a few individuals who I have wronged, and for that, I deeply apologize from the bottom of my heart.

In the past few months, I have been so stubborn, I have refused to see other people's point of view, and tensions have risen.......well, again, I apologize for my part in it, and from this point on, I hold absolutely no grudge towards anyone.

I should have known this, especially since my heart attack in June, but life is to short to be in a feud with anyone!!  There is no need to go over any details, but needless to say, I was wrong in some of the things that I have done or said, and again, I apologize.

ARES is a great organization, and always has been. In the past few months, it has continued to make some great strides. I have always been proud to say I have been part of it. Will everyone always agree on everything, of course not, but discussing things in a civil manner is the key. Believe me, I have learned that.  73 to all.
