The Cabrini Project

Project Index

The Cabrini Project started out with the Magash Project. The Duchess of Sabine carries as one of her titles Countess of Iirames. Initally the Countess title was held by the sister of the Baron Diisarirga who established the family's holdings on Magash. After the Civil War and the advancement of Arbellatra to the Iridium Throne the title fell to this junior branch of the family.

Where was Iirames? How was it that the Diisarirga family, which originated in the Kakadan Subsector in the Vland Sector, came to be involved in the Sabine Subsector in Deneb?

I decided that I needed to create a county in the Sabine sector that would give cause to the young Baron's presence there. I used GT:Nobles as the prime source of the Imperial Nobility. According to it counties are made up of minor worlds, too small and unimportant to have their own Marquies. One of these worlds had to be a standard world. I wanted the Duchess to have a summer estate. I also wanted it somewhat near to Magash, in Sabine Sector, to explain the presence of the young Baron. The Diisarirga would be absent nobeles, with their fief upon one of these worlds. Also with Jump travel times a second home farther away would never be used.

I picked a trio of worlds a long jump away from Magash. Umiikam, Sui'tang and Cabrini, with Cabrini being the county seat. Though the world had never been detailed in canon there was a UWP for it. A small, agricultural, standard atmosphere world, company run. A noncanonical post rebellion Regency version had been done on the Internet, but was not part of the Landgrab.

So started the Cabrini Project.

This site is built on two levels. At the top level it contains information on Cabrini, its people, society and government. It also illustrates the summer estate of the Duchess of Sabine. This information is provided for GMs to use in their own Traveller games. Spread throuout these pages are gems hidden behind "advertising" banners. These banners link to pages of information that can be introduced into games set in the Sabine sector and beyond.

Beneath the Cabrini content pages are design pages, which can be accessed by clicking the Imperial Sun icon. On these design pages, I will attempt to explain the why and wherefore of the game design decisions I have made in creating this material. The purpose of these pages is to document how I did it, and to provide a guide to others who desire to create their own material. Some of this material contains my opinions on game design, Traveller, and specific RPG products. These opinions are entirely my own and are not related to Steve Jackson Games, Far Future Games or any other company.
