A Message from Our President
Merry Christmas to all and have a Happy New Year!
I wanted to thank each of you for all your dedication towards Columbus Neighborhood. All the sacrifice’s many of you have made for Valley Glen Pool (lots of blood sweat and tears); from delivering our newsletters; attending many meetings and so much more. It’s the people that make the difference and we have been so blessed to have each and every one of you.
Remember to check on our neighbors and those who are going through sickness during these hard times. They may just need some one to lend an ear! So many issues going on at this time and many we are not aware of. Please, let’s all pray for each of our neighbors and for healing.
May God bless each and every one!
Dan Bales and Family, president of C.N.A.
Operation Power Up
An Operation Power Up hotline has been established that Tulsans who still need repairs can call to get on the list for free weatherhead repairs. It’s 1-866-789-8898. The City will send electricians to those sites.
For Oklahoma residents seeking non-emergency disaster or health and human service information, please contact the local 2-1-1 hotline (836-4357). Services are available 24 hours a day by dialing 2-1-1 from your home or cellular telephone. Due to high call volumes, you may receive a busy signal. We are here 24/7, so please continue to call 2-1-1 for disaster related information.

Ice Storm Cleanup
Storm debris cannot be left in yards and must be disposed of properly. Curbside pick-up service is available for fallen tree debris. Stack debris neatly at the curb. Tree branches do not need to be bundled. Remember, it is illegal to burn debris within Tulsa city limits. Tulsa residents also may continue to take tree branches and yard debris to the City’s greenwaste sites at 71st & Elwood, west of the Arkansas River, and 56th Street North between Mingo and Hwy 169. The hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week. Construction or demolition debris may not be included with the yard debris. Go to CITYOFTULSA.ORG for more information.

Siren Warnings
Knowing the different tones prepares citizens for proper response
Being prepared when disaster strikes can help save lives and property, prevent injury and decrease recovery costs.
One part of being prepared is knowing what the City’s warning siren system is telling you when the sirens sound. More than 80 sirens are strategically located throughout Tulsa. Each can be heard for up to a 1-mile radius. The sirens use tones that warn listeners about specific hazards like tornadoes, military attacks, chemical releases into the atmosphere and floods. Few cities have a flood warning siren.
A steady tone warns of both tornadoes and chemical hazards. It is a single note sounded continuously for three minutes.
A wavering tone warns of military attacks. It sounds similar to sirens on police, fire and ambulance vehicles.
A siren that is alternating high- and low-frequency tones warns of impending flooding.
