PRESIDENT’S CORNERThank you to all of the members who attended the Mystery Tour! It has been a while since I visited the Thomas Gilcrease Museum, but there is always something new to be discovered. Thank you to Donna Mathews and Deborah Burke for putting together a wonderful guided tour. Lunch at McNellie’s was an enjoyable after-tour treat. Members still have an opportunity to send in a donation for our fall fund raiser to our treasurer, Jenny Lizama. This month we will be meeting at the Royal Dragon Restaurant to focus on Native American Issues. This month’s Adelante book selection is Lakota Woman by Mary Crow Dog. It is about her life on a reservation in South Dakota in the sixties and seventies, and the growing interest in the American Indian Movement. This is a story of her determination to overcome much abuse and poverty, a survival story. AAUW Tulsa Branch Women in Transition’s fall follow-up is scheduled for this month. Again I encourage our members to contact Candace Sitzer if you would like to help with this event. Holiday Tea will be December 6th at Resonance. I encourage our members to volunteer to bring goodies for the tea table, and the bake sale. Craft items are always appreciated, too. The Tea is a great time to visit with friends and bring guests and prospective members. (See related articles). It is also a time to buy delicious baked goods and items to give as holiday gifts, or save them for those special moments at home, or do both! This month I will be asking members to please contact me if you would like to serve on the nominating committee. We will have board positions to fill. As always this is an opportunity to become acquainted with the membership. Thank you to all of the members who have served on our board, and all of our members who volunteer their time and talent in so many ways. Happy Thanksgiving!
