Tunia's Advice Page

Read the advice that kids give to characters in their favorite books.

Students in Room 201 at Reservoir Avenue School sent in this advice: In An Extraordinary Egg by Leo Lionni, Jessica told Marilyn and August that the baby that hatched from the egg was a baby chicken. She thought that was true because she knew chickens came from eggs even though she never really saw a chicken. Then when the egg hatched and something came out, Jessica thought it was a chicken because that's what she knew came from eggs. She had never seen an alligator before either. We think Jessica should have asked the mother alligator what she meant when she said, "Come here my sweet little alligator." If Jessica listened and thought about what she heard the mother alligator say, she could have learned what an alligator was.
