Eden Hills Primary School

South Australia, Australia

March 6, 2007: Tunia has arrived. She was very happy to be back with us again and she certainly noticed a few changes in our school. Since her last visit we have a new classroom and there is a new gym and resource centre in the school. So she has lots to find out about. Eden Hills Primary School is located in South Australia within the Adelaide Hills about 10 kilometers from the centre of the city of Adelaide, our state capital. The school is set in an Australian bush land setting which overlooks the Adelaide Plains to the sea. The school currently has 9 classes and 230 students.

Tunia was rather upset to see how much the drought is affecting the plants in our school yard. Some plants have not had any water for months. We are hoping that Tunia will be lucky for us and the weather will soon change and bring some much needed rain.

When Tunia finally arrived after her long journey from Rhode Island, she was very pleased to be back but exhausted and so she was very happy to go to sleep in her new little bed made especially for her.

She will have a busy time over the next few weeks as she will get to take part in Sports Day again and then she will come with us to camp.

March 7, 2007: When Tunia woke up, she was pleased to try out her new chair.

Tunia is enjoying her new chair. She sits at the front of the class where she can watch everyone.

Tunia is wearing her new hat. She must have a hat if she wants to play outside because she may get sun burnt by the hot Australian sun. Autumn (Fall) has just begun but the weather is still like summer.

March 8, 2007: Tunia couldn’t wait to explore the school to see what she remembered from her last visit.

She was surprised to find our old classroom had been replaced by a new one.

March 13, 2007: Tunia can’t wait to play sports in our new Sports/Arts Centre.

March 14, 2007: We have been reading lots of Fairy Tales. Tunia loves them too.

Tunia really does love reading, and Fairy Tales are always great to read!

March 28th -30th: Tunia goes to camp at Arbury Park Outdoor School with the children from Eden Hills Primary School. Arbury Park is situated in the beautiful Adelaide Hills.

Watch out for the echidna’s spikes.

It’s Tunia’s turn to be a ringtail possum.

Camp was so much fun. Now it’s time for Tunia leave Australia where fall has just begun, and travel back to Reservoir Avenue School where spring has just begun!
