Fremont, California
January 4, 2000:
Tunia arrived in Mrs. Sexton's class today at Warwick Elementary School. She got there after school had ended for the day and the students had gone home. So Tunia met Mrs. Sexton and got ready to surprise the boys and girls when they arrive back at school tomorrow.January 7, 2000:
Tunia spent another busy day in Room 23 at Warwick Elementary School. She helped Jeremy write his story about a dinosaur. Lots of dinosaur stuff is going on in this room. Nima let Tunia rest while she was visiting him. After lunch, Tunia helped Nicole take a spelling test, but she didn't give her any answers. While Tunia was with Autri, she helped him use the computer to find information on fossils. Tunia is worn out. She will be spending the weekend with Mrs. Sexton and her family.January 10, 2000:
Tunia spent a quiet weekend with Mrs. Sexton and her family. She met Riley the dog, Charlie the cat, and Moe the rat. They welcomed her with open arms. On her return to school on Monday, Tunia visited with Monique. They read a story together about a little boy who imagines he has a dinosaur living in his backyard. Then, Tunia met Chelsea and they worked on her spelling words. After the second recess, Tunia spent some time with Nasser. She helped him with his SRA reading. After lunch was art time. Tunia got to help Rodney make a snowman mobile. They had to color, cut, and glue. During lunch Tunia had a little nap. The last hour of the day was spent with Rebecca. What a character she is. She just loves life. When the students go to the computer lab on Wednesday, they may be able to take some photos and send them out for Tunia's site. In the computer lab, the students are researching native plant life and will be sending some information soon.|

Above, Tunia is standing by an image of a California Golden Poppy. This is the state flower and it grows wild all over the state. If you pick one you can be fined. |
While in the computer lab Tunia met a new friend. His name is Elmo, and he and Tunia had a fun time helping all the students complete their projects. |
