Lynhaven School

San José, California

March 27, 2000: Tunia arrived at Lynhaven School today. Unfortunately, all of the students had already gone home so Tunia visited with Mrs. Chavez, Ms. Glantz, Ms. Huffman, and Mrs. McGee because she would spend time in all four classrooms while she visited our school. Lynhaven is in San José, California. During Tunia's visit we expect to have warm weather and Tunia should be able to spend time with us in our garden.

March 28, 2000: Today was a very exciting day! Tunia was waiting in Ms. Huffman's class when the students arrived. Everyone was so happy to meet Tunia and to tell her that she was going on a field trip with the students to The Children's Discovery Museum in downtown San José. The Children's Discovery Museum has many fun things for our classes and Tunia to see such as a puppet theater, a science laboratory where we could look at different types of seeds, arts and crafts, and even a ride on a fire engine. After we left the museum, Tunia enjoyed having a picnic lunch with our classes. Then we all rode the school bus back to Lynhaven.

March 30, 2000: Tunia has been very busy going between all four classes. In Mrs. Chavez's class Tunia helped everyone make ladybugs to hang on the wall. In Ms. Huffman's class she read The Grouchy Ladybug, which is one of our favorite books. Tunia, of course , was the nice, friendly ladybug. In Ms. Glantz's class, Tunia went outside to find and look at real life ladybugs. She also helped each class label the parts of a ladybug.

April 4, 2000: In Mrs. Mc Gee's class today, Tunia read some of the students' old favorite stories with them and helped them water the garden outside. All of the classes planted the garden in the fall and have been taking care of it by watering, weeding, and harvesting. We also plan to plant more now that spring is here.

April, 7 2000: We had to say good-bye to Tunia today. All of the classes enjoyed her visit and wished that she could stay longer, but we are excited to learn about the next school she visits in Texas.
