January, 2002: Well, I arrived at Upper Gullies yesterday. Just in time, for there is a storm coming tomorrow. I met with the Grade One students in Mrs. Warren's and Mrs. Bonnell's class.

Tunia met the first graders at Upper Gullies Elementary.

Here is what the students told Tunia about Upper Gullies so far. Upper Gullies Elementary (http://www.gullies.k12.nf.ca) is located in the community of Upper Gullies, which is in Conception Bay South. Our province is Newfoundland and Labrador, and our country is Canada. Below is some information about where it is we live.

Conception Bay South (CBS): We live at the most easterly point in all of North America. CBS is in the eastern part of our province - Newfoundland and Labrador. It is about 30 km. away from St. John's, the capital of our province.

Here is what is special about Conception Bay South: It's made up of 9 smaller communities that are along the shoreline of Conception Bay . We are a rural community. Our population here in CBS is around 21,000.

Here are some things to do in our town: We have an indoor community swimming pool, an ice rink stadium, softball, soccer, and baseball fields. We can walk on our beaches. We can look for fossils at Manuel's River. You can visit our town's website at http://www.town.cbs.nf.ca.

Here are some things about our school: It is a K-6 school, with 367 students. We have a computer room in our school, and a computer in every classroom. We have a big playground and a soccer field and a wooden area too. We can see the ocean from our school.

Well that is all for today, I am hoping to have some pictures of the ocean that we can see from our school.
