Hutto Elementary School
Hutto, Texas
April 18, 2000:
Tunia arrived in Hutto, Texas on Monday, April 17. We are excited about having her as a visitor. We are 3rd graders at Hutto Elementary. Hutto is located near Austin. Austin is the capital city of Texas. It has been very warm here this week. Yesterday it got up to 85 degrees. Tunia is enjoying the warm weather. Tomorrow we are going on a field trip to visit a big grocery store to learn about how businesses work. We are also going to a big park in Austin called Zilker Park. We are going to have a picnic there and ride the miniature train around the park.|
Tunia is sitting in the butterfly garden at Hutto Elementary. She is sitting next to some lantana. Butterflies love this flowering plant. |

April 25, 2000: We took pictures of Tunia and the class. Tunia has had a good time. Tunia liked the flowers in our school's butterfly garden. She liked the lantana, a favorite of lots of insects. She also saw bluebonnets, which are Texas's state flower. It has been very warm here. It seems like summer. Sunday it was nearly 100 degrees. That is not the usual weather for us in the month of April. Tunia will probably be glad to leave this hot weather and go to Canada where it will be cooler. |

April 27, 2000: Today we have our music program called "Dinomotion". It is about dinosaurs and fossils. Tunia will get to watch the play this afternoon. Tunia has been watching us get ready for our Economics Sale next week. Everyone in the class is making a product to sell. We are using the money we make to buy books for our library. Tomorrow we have our field day, so we will spend the day outside doing different activities. Then Tunia will be off to Canada. |
