Eagle Elementary School
Eagle, Wisconsin

March 19, 2001:
Tunia arrived safe and sound on March 19th. She had a busy first week in Eagle, Wisconsin. We are a rural community nestled right in the middle of a state forest so we are lucky enough to have a forest as a backyard to our school. We often go for nature walks and plant things during the spring.|
|
This is a picture of Tunia by our class fish, Fire. He gets oxygen from the plant and also eats its roots. We don't have to feed him fish food since he eats part of the plant. The roots have grown a lot this year. |

Tunia is sitting on top of a plastic tube in the forest behind our school. Inside the tube is a tiny tree that we planted at the beginning of the school year. The tube keeps the tiny tree safe from the animals, bugs, birds, weather, and feet! When the tree gets tall enough to poke out the top, we will take the tube off and let it grow on its own. |

April 2, 2001:
Tunia met two new friends at Eagle, Tommy and Tammy, our class mascots. Tommy and Tammy enjoy dressing for the holidays and for certain occasions. Tunia admired their cute Easter rabbit costumes. Tunia watched our Mother's Day plants grow an inch or two during her visit. She helped us water them and give them plant food. Tunia was a big help!|

It is Tunia's last week here at Eagle Elementary so the students are taking turns telling her goodbye. She will certainly be missed, but we will continue to check on her over the Internet. We wish her a safe journey to Canada.|
