March 6, 2003: Tunia has arrived in Springfield, Louisiana and we are so thrilled to have her in our 1^st grade classroom.

March 17, 2003: Tunia really got into going to the computer lab every day. We go for 30 minutes a day. On Fridays, we get to work in the Story Painter program and a lot of us like to write about Tunia and other ladybugs.

While Tunia was visiting our class, we did a ladybug unit. We did a lot of writing about ladybugs. We also read a lot of books about ladybugs. The book Tunia is helping read is Ladybug's Birthday. Go to Tunia's Writing Page to read some of our writing.

March 21, 2003: Springfield Mayor Charlie Martin stopped by to meet and have his picture taken with Tunia. Springfield recently celebrated its 165th Birthday. Springfiled is the oldest community in Livingston Parish and the third oldest town in Louisiana.

March 23, 2003: Louisiana is covered with wetlands and Springfield is the home of Tickfaw State Park. Tunia was able to visit and explore the swamps. Visit Tickfaw State Park website at http://www.crt.state.la.us/crt/parks/tickfaw/tickfaw.htm

March 27, 2003: Tunia will also be featured in the Town of Springfield Newsletter. The article will explain Tunia's Travels and highlight our class and Tunia's activities while visiting Mrs. Tanya's 1st grade Ladybugs.
