Gates Mojo
2001 Aluminum/Wood/Gold & Aluminum Leaf/Glass/Granite 38' tall x 6' dia. Commissioned by a private client for their home in Thousand Oaks, California. Implemented and coordinated by Barbara Hamiliton, Art Services Group, Carlsbad, CA. A three story spiral staircase contains this sculpture that balances on the point of an 16' golden aluminum cone supporting granite collars and a 24" diameter laminated glass sphere. Perforated nesting, overlapping golden aluminum forms ascend upward from the sphere to the ceiling of the staircase rotunda, where a silver wooden spiral encircles the entire piece from ceiling to floor. Centrally located in the home, the Mojo becomes the hub around which all activity revolves from one wing to another and one floor to the next. |
