Christopher Lee       -       Artist's Statement MOJO STICKS Through the years I have become increasingly interested in the concept of power, energy and potential.  Many of the works I have created are manifestations of latent energy and/or power sources waiting to be tapped by external forces.  They correspond to the power of human potential and the ability to channel those energies in a meaningful way.  The most recent pieces from the "Mojo Stick Series" are the next extension of this concept.  "Mojo" has been described as "a magic spell, hex, or charm; broadly: magical power", and assumed to be of African or American Indian origin.    I have attempted to represent the magical power in these pieces not only as casters of spells, weavers of incantations, relievers of pain and facilitators of fortune, but also how those concepts relate to modern living and the intricacies of our increasingly complicated and confusing times.
