Title

I discovered this simple 3D method when we discovered the 3D tubes in PSP! Most things can be made to look 3D by simply setting the step size in the tubes to 1. However if they are all one color then you sometimes don't get the boxy 3D look. So take those butterflies, flowers and whatever else you've tubed and play with the step size. I have discovered a neat way to get 3D text that I will explain in this tutorial. Have fun!

1. Start with a good sized canvas about 600x200 with a TRANSPARENT background. Flood fill with a color that will contrast with your text if you want so you can see what you are doing.
2. Add a layer. Go to your text tool (My settings below) and add some nice large vector text, chunky seems to work better than script, but experiment with them. I used arial black here.
3. Left click on Vector Object Selection, then right click below your text and select convert text to curves/ as a single shape
4. Now right click again and choose properties. A new window will come up that you can choose what color for outlining and filling your text. (my settings below) I chose to outline in teal and leave the center white for this tutorial.

5. Go to Layers/ convert to raster.
6. Now if want to you can end here by deleting your background layer, merging visible layers, cropping to size and exporting as a tube.
7. However if you wish to do more to your text you may do so by selecting it. Click outside the text and then hold down the shift key and select any small areas within the letters (like A's and P's, etc.). Then go to Layers/ invert.
8. If you want to add something to just the inside area, go to Layers/ modify/ contract and contract by however wide the outside line was the you chose in properties earlier. Now just the inside is selected so you can add a bevel or whatever.
9. When you are done, delete the background layer, merge visible layers and crop to size. Export as a tube.(my settings below) (I left mine white, but remember white does not colorize so if you are going to want a tube that you can change colors on make the white area a light gray.)

10. To make the text 3D place it on a new layer of your image and drag slightly in any direction. That's all there is to it! :)
