Hello and welcome all to Uncertain Awakenings. This page, in the tradition of many others before it, was spawned of boredom and a desire to dabble once again in HTML. Technically, the subtitle is a slight misnomer, as Uncertain Awakenings was 18 times the title of my weblog on diaryland (no longer active) and only twice the name of this page, but that is neither here nor there. Please bookmark me now, and check back in from time to time to see what's new.
12 November; Saturday: Been busy with school and King Richard's Faire, but I'm back now. Updates have been made to the About Me and Writing pages. Added to the Writing page is a whole new section called the King Richard's Faire Project. This will eventually become a research paper for my Writing 100 class, but each piece is being tended to separately and I am posting them as such. Currently, there are several pieces I have written and an interview. Still to come are some free writing pieces done as a supplement to the project, some print resources, another interview, and obviously, the paper itself. Keep your eyes peeled!
2 July; Saturday: As you may have heard, Sandra Day O'Connor has resigned from her post at the Supreme Court. This is a very dark hour. MoveOn PAC has started an emergency petition. The goal is 250, 000 signatures by Tuesday. For the love of freedom and women's rights, please sign it and pass the link on to everyone you know. Let's remind our senators who they're working for and let's not let Bush send us back to the dark ages before women's suffrage and Roe v. Wade. The address is http://moveonpac.org/protectourrights/. This has been a public service announcement.
6 May; Friday: The old incarnation of Uncertain Awakenings has now ceased to exist. Moment of silence, please.
4 May; Wednesday: I've been very lax about recapping my updates lately, so here's (more or less) the skinny on what's been going down...
Overhauled the entire layout (in case you somehow missed it, the original is here)
Massive updates to the Art and Prose sections
Smaller updates to Poetry and Affiliates
The "about" page now contains more than just a snarky declaration that I don't want to write it.
Recommendation page added
Fanfiction page removed
Geek Dictionary begun
Why am I doing all of this? Elementary, dear reader. What was once a personal folly is now being transformed into something more useful. From Personal Web Page to Digital Portfolio in one semestre. Still missing is my enormously unimpressive employment history/resume, some of my photographs, and one of my letters of recommendation. This, in my estimation, necessitated the removal of the fanfiction page, which for the time being, will be available upon request. Eventually, I may password protect it or otherwise make it selectively available so that potential employers are not subjected to irrelevant hobby writing, but folks that have come looking for it may still find it. Perhaps I'll just host them on *gasp* Geocities and leave it at that.
3 March; Thursday: Further bad news. Now that we're on civil ground again, the account holder is in Spain. If anyone has viable hosting suggestions aside from the traditional tripod, geocities, angelfire B.S., please email me at twilytgardnfaery(at)cox(dot)net.
2 February; Wednesday: Bad news, folks. I'm not on the best of terms with the account holder at Cox *cough*myfather*cough!* so he's taking his dear sweet time adding my second account. Please do check in, and until such time as I get the account, I will continue to set each month as the check back date. Thusly, I do hope you'll check in again come March, if not sooner.
12 January; Wednesday: The source of the technical trouble has been located; I overran my allotted webspace. Free Cox accounts are only 10 MB and I was running at 12. It's no wonder I couldn't upload the updated versions of anything. After some housecleaning I've managed to free up a couple of meg, but it's not enough. Sadly, as a result, Uncertain Awakenings will be taking a bit of a hiatus. What you see is what you get until February. I will update as soon as I get my hands on some more space, but February will bring with it a proper status report, in case you don't feel like spending the rest of January checking to see if I've done anything or not. If, however, you wish to know the day I update and you're on Livejournal, add "twily" to your friends list. Mostly it's an account for my poetry, politics, and news rantings, but I also get into my web stuff a little as I'm working on it. Aside from here, that will be the first place to hear about any changes. For the time being, I must needs bid fare well to all of thee, and prithee to be coming back in February, as by then there should be quite a bit going on. I've got stuff coming out of my ears that needs uploading, but no space in which to host it.
3 January; Monday: We are experiencing some SEVERE technical difficulties. Uncertain Awakenings will not be upgraded properly until such time as this is all squared away. Please be patient.
22 Decembre; Wednesday: Way for me not to update for a month... Sorry, been busy. Nothing visible has happened yet, but if anything's suddenly broken it's because I'm doing a background overhaul between home and school. Given the fact that today is the last day before vacation, I have to have everything where I can access it from home even if I did it at school. With the new year approaching (not to mention my birthday!), so too approacheth a new look for Uncertain Awakenings, bringing us at last to the twentieth reinvention.
17 November; Wednesday: Not sure that this merits note on the update page based on the lacking magnatude, but a poem has been added to the Poetry section, and an essay (Romancing the Vampyre) has been added under Other Writings.
15 November; Monday: Construction has started on Photography
section under Artistical Ventures. Caution, not complete! May load VERY
strangely, or not at all. No harm in looking, but it's a bloody mess over
there. New section up under Artistical Ventures called "Photography."
Presently contains only the subheading "Early Prints," which is home to 9
photographs captured using pinhole photography. Now functional.
13 November; Saturday:: Being as wonderful as I am at keeping up with updates, I neglected to mention that on Wednesday of last week (yes, folks, Wednesday) I updated the Poetry section with four new poems. When I get my term project back from my Photo I teacher, I'll be posting bits of that as well. That's all for now. Still haven't found that renegade fanfiction file, or even the original word file. Things don't look too good for that fic.
08 October; Friday: As you may or may not have noticed, I've been working on fixing the links in the Fanfic section all week. At present, I seem to have lost the file containing the story Inception, but aside from that one everything's up and running again. Sorry if I really let anyone down in the meantime.
03 October; Sunday: The fanfiction section of the page is presently down for rennovations that I can't be bothered to perform at the moment. The links are all wonky (should you ignore this message, you'll see what I mean) and I lack the patience to fix them right now. I shall get them back up and running as soon as possible. However, the site has just undergone a major overhaul, so if you find any broken links, please report them immediately so I can fix them in a timely manner.
01 October; Friday: The affiliates page is up and running, but I've only got one link. Please email me to be added. If I know you, I'll link no questions asked, if I don't, I'll check out the site, write you back, blah, blah. Also added another poem and a short note to the poetry section. Possibly some original fiction to come, depending on how secure I'm feeling about unleashing Marilyn on the world.
21 September; Tuesday: Posted the first set of art pages (hatchling, teapot, baby dragon, and GIR). Each page contains a project and short summary. Looks like this is finally getting off the ground. =) Hopefully you can expect more in the near future, and maybe even some more elaborate decorations and such on the site. Ooh, the possibilities!
14 September; Tuesday: Posted seven poems in the poetry section, and the short fiction Tragedy on Mooseberry Hill in the other writings section. Um. More to come, I suppose, just, er, not yet. I need a proper background to shoot the artworks, and I'm behind on getting the written elements typed. My love goes out to those of you who actually do check in to see if I've updated or not. <3
20 February; Friday: Put up the bare bones of the page. More to come as time permits.
