Nordstrom's Advertising Supplement
This photo appeared in a 1996 glossy advertising insert to the Los Angeles Times.
We just wonder...did Nortstrom's designer buy their American Modern chartreuse platter from Two Lions?
Design Article, LA Times, 2/16/97
This photo appeared in the Los Angeles Times Magazine on February 16.
Hey!.. did one of those designers buy their American Modern chartreuse pitcher (on table, front left) from Two Lions?
Los Angeles Area Swap Meets
Pasadena City College Flea Market
1st Sunday of every month
1570 East Colorado Boulevard, Pasadena, 6 am - 3 pm. Selection varies.
The modern is always well-represented. Enjoy the shops and restaurants of old town after your shopping.
Rose Bowl Flea Market
2nd Sunday of every month
1001 Rose Bowl Drive, Pasadena, 6 am - 4:30 pm
Over a thousand vendors. Also one of the most expensive admission charges. You can find Wright, Zeisel, Heywood-Wakefield and other modern furniture (one Sunday there were dozens of Russel Wright folding chairs), Bauer, Redwing, Raymor, Vernon Kilns, Carmen Brady sipping coffee from an original pink sherbet Russel Wright mug as she starts out on the morning's hunt. NOTE: You have to get to these swap meets early.
Long Beach Outdoor Antique & Collectible Market
3rd Sunday of every month at Veterans Memorial Stadium, Conant St. between Lakewood and Clark, Long Beach, 6:30 am - 3 pm. Great variety. Lots of pottery and dinnerware, glass, furniture, linens, jewelry; Russel Wright can usually be found.
Santa Monica Outdoor Antique & Collectible Market
4th Sunday of every month
Santa Monica Airport, Airport Ave. off Bundy Ave., 6 am - 3 pm
Not the best for Russel Wright, but fun and there is generally a good selection of modern American and California pottery and dinnerware: Metlox, Catalina, Vernon, Franciscan, Pacific, Hall. You may even spot some Hollywood celebrities. A shuttle runs from the parking lot to the entrance.
Numerous smaller and newer swap meets exist that are also worth exploring, but due to some recent closures, we're double-checking our facts before we re-post them here. Please be patient while we update our page.
