Mary Einstein Wright

Mary Wright was a major force in promoting her husband, Russel Wright's designs. A sculpture student when they met, she was herself a designer whose media included cloth, leather, wood, aluminum, and pottery. The Bauer pottery of Atlanta experimentally introduced her "Country Gardens" dinnerware line in 1946. As it did not prove popular, the line never went into full production, despite Mary and Russel's efforts. For this reason, "Country Gardens" pieces are difficult to find and prices reflect their rarity. With Mary's death in 1952, Russel lost a valued partner and creative collaborator.
