| Eva Zeisel Born in Budapest in 1906, Eva Zeisel is still designing today. She has also reissued some of her earlier dinnerware and decorative designs. Before emigrating to the U.S. in 1938, she worked in
Europe. Designing the "Museum" dinnerware line for Castleton China Co. at the recommendation of the Museum of Modern Art was a major point in her career. Introduced in 1946, the Museum line was advertised as "the first translucent china dinnerware produced in the U.S." Other Zeisel dinnerware designs sought after by collectors include: "Town & Country" for Red Wing Pottery (1946) and "Tomorrow's Classic" for Hallcraft (c. 1952). Pieces designed for the Riverside China (Ceramics) Co. (1947) are also of interest. |
