Policies and Procedures
In-home pet sitting is one of the best ways you can care for your pets while you are away. To ensure everything goes as smoothly as possible, Urban Tails has the following policies and procedures. Hopefully this will answer any questions you may have regarding our service. If you should have further questions, please feel free to ask us.
Our requirements of you (the pet parent):
Upon your return home, notify us by phone, text or email; you can contact us at ANY HOUR. For your pet's safety, it's our policy to continue visits until we are contacted.
Advance notice requesting pet sitting service. If you are a NEW client, we require notice of at least one week in advance. This gives us time to schedule our initial "meet and greet" with you and your pets to ensure all parties are happy.
Fill out paperwork regarding your pets activities, appetite, behavior, vet information, and a local contact in case of emergency.
Provide copy of a house key, alarm codes, and instructions to enter your home and secure your home when we exit. Keeping a copy of your house key allows us to visit your home on short notice if needed, and makes it convenient for future visits.
Sign a release authorizing emergency medical care for your animals in your absence.
We cannot be responsible for injury, illness, or death to any cats that are allowed to roam freely outdoors. We advise that cats be kept indoors during your absence to ensure their safety.
It is the client's responsibility to "pet proof" any areas of the home or property to which the pet has access.
We also need to be notified of any other person who has access to your home (i.e. cleaning service, pool company personnel, friends, family, etc.) while you are away. For our own protection and the protection of your home and pets, we will contact police should we find anyone else at your home.
Urban Tails' Policies and Procedures:
We will not have any company advertising on our vehicles while visiting your home as we feel this may call attention to your absence.
Because some reservations are made well in advance, we will confirm via phone call or email approximately 4-5 days prior to your departure to confirm your appointment. If you do not hear from us, you will need to contact us. We do not want any animal to suffer due to a miscommunication on either side.
We cannot accept reservations via a phone message alone. Please don't assume you have made an appointment until we contact you directly to confirm your request. This is to prevent any miscommunication.
