Quick Features Manual for the VMAPD
The VMAP-D is a variable Manifold Pressure sensor which can be programmed by the factory to replicate virtually any linear manifold pressure sensor in it's class. The maximum adjustable "usable" range of the unit at the factory is from 1.0 to 5.0 bar absolute. Three sets of "standard" firmware are available. It essentially has the functionality of multiple sensors in a single unit. The VMAP-D can be also be used as a substitute/upgrade for the Bosch 0 273 003 210/211 sensors giving you the added flexibility of switching between ranges. The VMAP-D provides an upgrade path for larger power increases. It is extremely stable, robust and accurate. The lot to lot tolerances are better than any production sensor in this class and uses only the latest critical components that were "initially" released to production between 1998 - 2002. In addition the design is such that all critical components temperature coefficients are matched providing precision even at extreme temperatures. The VMAP-D can also be used to reduce pressure in engine knocking situations.
Warning!
Improper use may cause severe engine and or turbo damage. By installing this device you are taking full responsibility for any damage that may occur. Due to the sensitive nature of the Motronics unit it is recommended that only professionals that uses anti-static procedures install the VMAP-D into your ECU.
VMAP-D Features
This VMAP-D-4 is a variable Manifold Pressure sensor with adjustable ranges from 2.5 to 4.0 bar in 0.1 bar increments. The units are calibrated to have low errors across the full-scale span voltage (Vfs) and operating temperature range. The circuitry is capable of replicating virtually any linear sensor and has standard support for either Bosch or GM and the "ideal" precision mode sensor.
The high power output stage is capable of driving multiple loads with negligible decrease in full-scale output (30 ma). (Remote mounting if desired)
The Pressure sensor can withstand an excess of well over 500 kPa (5 bar) for an indefinite period and is built to still be within specifications from -20 to 85 degrees Celsius.
Support for future option boards and/or firmware. - which may include - limit/increase manifold pressure in a specified gear, Boost display correction, wired and wireless programmability, etc.
Semi-Automatic calibration procedure using a processor capable of more than 1000 precision adjustments per second. Full range spans are verified in various Bosch, GM and Precision modes using an accurate calibration station.
All units are manufactured at a state of the art manufacturing facility.
Facility 1
Facility 2
Facility 3
Facility 4
The design was rigorously tested at extreme temperatures for many months prior to being released to production. Each unit is calibrated and tested with pressure spans from 0.2 to 3.5 bar absolute prior to leaving the calibration facility.
