Back to the main page

Bottom Creek drops to the South Fork of the Roanoke River through a steep gorge with very difficult rapids. The American Whitewater website rates it as class 5+ difficulty.

American Whitewater describes the creek, including a great video clip that shows difficulty of the creek.

The Nature Conservancy owns much of the land surrounding the creek and have numerous hiking trails in the area.

The gorge viewed from the top. During wetter weather the rocks cliff on the other side of the gorge is a waterfall.

I think this is one of the easier sections of the creek in the gorge.

This is the creek along the road a short distance from the put-in.
