It is going to rain this Winter and Spring in Virginia? I hope it does soon, because I am anxious for some whitewater.
Low water pictures of the Smith River put-in (Philpott Dam), Bottom Creek Gorge, and the temporary bridge at Whitetop Laurel Creek. A flood on WTL in July 2001 washed out the bridge above Big Rock Falls. This is the bridge that always concerned while I was on the creek, because of a screwup here could mean being swept over the falls. Before the flood a tree was wedged against the bridge supports, making the situation even more uncomfortable. In addition to my pictures, some links are included to some high water pictures during the flood, and to the AWA page on Bottom Creek Gorge.
