We lost a dear
friend and great humanitarian on Monday, November 23. Laban Dyer,
81, died at his home in Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife Jodie, and daughters Debbie Hines of Van
Buren, Tracy Pape of Tulsa, and Patty Hassell of Alma. He also
leaves sister Carlanna Gill of Cleveland, TN, eight grandchildren and
eight great-grandchildren.
Laban was a native of Van Buren. He served his country with
the U.S. Army, and his community as a civil service employee and Van Buren
police chief. He taught Sunday school at Oak Grove Baptist Church,
was on the board of directors for District 6 Fire Department, and was a 19
year member of the Van Buren Lions Club.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Oak Grove
Baptist Church in Van Buren, with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van
Buren.
Lion Laban Dyer, you will be missed by many. God bless you.
