We lost a dear friend and great humanitarian on Monday, November 23.  Laban Dyer, 81, died at his home in Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife Jodie, and daughters Debbie Hines of Van Buren, Tracy Pape of Tulsa, and Patty Hassell of Alma.  He also leaves sister Carlanna Gill of Cleveland, TN, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Laban was a native of Van Buren.  He served his country with the U.S. Army, and his community as a civil service employee and Van Buren police chief.  He taught Sunday school at Oak Grove Baptist Church, was on the board of directors for District 6 Fire Department, and was a 19 year member of the Van Buren Lions Club.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Van Buren, with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren.
Lion Laban Dyer, you will be missed by many.  God bless you.
