In May 1999 the Lions of Arkansas received a significant bequest from the
estate of a Hot Springs resident. The Foundation (charitable 501(c)(3)) was
established to invest this bequest and administer the proceeds there from as an
additional source of support for deserving Lions Club projects.
All Lions in Arkansas are members of the Foundation, and Foundation
activities are managed by a 12-member Board of Trustees elected by the Lions
Districts in Arkansas. Trustees are available to make presentations by
calling (501) 753-3833.
Special projects of the Foundation are the Lions World Services for the
Blind, Mid-South Lions Sight and Hearing Services, and the Arkansas Lions Eye
Bank and Laboratory. In addition, the Leader Dog program, and Lions Clubs
International Foundation may receive funds if designated as recipients by those
making a donation to the Foundation. Also, funding for sight and hearing
programs to other organizations, and disaster relief requests may be provided
through Arkansas Lions Clubs.
