Chapter 25

Epilogue

Deep within the overlord Hypatia's program was hard at work. His memories were almost all gone. Only a few more left. The overlord heard a pair of whispers...

"Look. He has chosen.", the sorceress voice had an air of excitement.

"It's about time.", sneered the satyr. "See. I was right. He decided to become all machine. I win the bet."

"I beg to differ.", replied the sorceress.

"Oh come on.", the satyr started becoming annoyed, "He's all metal. There's nothing left of him but a beating heart to keep a few organs alive. He's all machine. He doesn't feel. He doesn't hesitate. He's far more ruthless and efficient than he was before. He's become the perfect killing machine."

"Yes.", the sorceress paused, "But why did he chose to be that way?"

"To make himself stronger.", the satyr answered quickly. "That's the only reason he ever did anything."

"You are wrong.", the sorceress calmly explained. "He did it out of love for his son. He's become his son's perfect guardian. That makes him more human."

The satyr grumbled. "Yeah, but he's still a machine. Pay up."

The sorceress laughed softly.

"You aren't going to pay are you?", the satyr whined.

"Neither are you.", the sorceress answered.

"I'm outta here.", the satyr's voice stopped forever.

"He has chosen. The war inside is over.", the sorceress' said as her voice slowly faded away, "The hatred is gone."

Hypatia's program activated one final time. The overlord's last memory was erased. The man was no more.
