This
is a 1986 Mustang SVO, Oxford white w/ grey leather interior, sunroof and the
spoiler delete option. There has been many different modifications performed
and continues to be an ongoing process. As you can see in the picture I decided
to mount an API intercooler measuring 3"x8"x18" between the four
front slots of the lower air dam. I figured it would get a greater amount of
fresh air vs. mounting it behind the radiator. The intercooler was purchased
from Alamo Motorsports. If you put your cursor on the image you will see that
I installed the HKS race valve in the bypass set up. Now that I've gone with
the SDS system, I have it vented to atmosphere.
Here's
a better view of the current API intercooler install. I like this intercooler
a little better than the Griffin or Spearco mainly b/c the tibulators are made
of billet aluminum and are virtually unbendable. I don't have to worry about
rocks, bugs or small animals damaging my intercooler core.
This
was an old picture when I had the Volvo IC mounted up front. The Volvo intercooler
would certainly be more efficient since it was mounted up front, but I felt
the stock Thunderbird TC intercooler flowed more volume of air and was less
restrictive. I ran a best of 13.85 at 103.35 w/ the stock TC intercooler, 3"
DP, fuel pressure at 43 psi and 19 pounds of boost on the stock T3 turbo.
