(8) 25c/50c/$1 MG/MD 9/6 JoB bartops @ the bar in the Comedy Club. The eight MG/MD 9/6 JOB 99.5% 25/50/1 machines at the bar in the Comedy Club have all been downgraded to 9/5. River Palms has a new high limit area upstairs near the Subway Food Outlet. In this area all JOB, BP, and DDB pay triple on 4 eights. The only *full pay* machines in this area are 4 MG/MD machines that have BP 99.2% in one and two dollar denominations only. River Palms has 8 MG machines at the bar in its Comedy Club. All 8 machines have 25c/50c/$1 9/6 JoB. All of the other games on these machines are definitely not *full pay*. At the River Palms, I only found 4 of the 25c NSUD and they were put "Out of Service" this morning 1/3/09 with techs working on them. (4) 25c FPDW Game King uprights in Winner's Wharf. I have found that the RP marketing offers operate on a daily average - not a monthly average. So if you are spreading out that $3500 to $4000 a month over multiple days, you are just diluting your "average". I usually will spend a few hours down there and put through $1,000 to $1,500. That seems to keep the free room offers coming to me. (4) 25c 8/5/50 SA Game Kings by front door, next to rail. Here's what I found in the last week in Laughlin. At the RP, there are 3 $.05 NSUD MG/MD Spin Poker Deluxe just outside the Poker Room and not just 1. At the nickel level, these games also have 9/7 DB and 9/6 DDB. There are $.25 9/6 DDB uprights along the wall in Winner's Wharf. A quick update from River Palms in Laughlin. The FPDW and 10/7 DB machines that are marked "temporarily out of service" in the vpFree database are back in action. In addition, there are additional 10/7 DB 25c machines along a wall in the Winners Wharf as well, though I did not count them. Currently they are running a promotion with 3x points on Friday, Sat and Sun. Swipe card each day before playing. In addition, you get one scratch-off promo card for each 250 points per day (limit 3). Most are worth $2. (1) 5c 9/6 JoB IGT upright near main cashier. (1) 25c 9/6 JoB (5000RF) slant-top (IGT red glass antique) in the north section by the slot club. I was at the River Palms today. They are remodeling upstairs by the Keno, and I could not find the FPDW machines up there. I did find several FPDW machines (I believe eight) downstairs in the Winners Wharf. (1) 25c 9/5/80 WHA slant-top in NE corner of Lower Level Non-Smoking Room. (3) 25c AA MG Game Maker uprights by railing on the top floor in the south end. (1) 25c FPDW slant-top in front of the slot club on the top floor. (1) 25c FPDW near Bermuda Club. Several 25c 10/7 DB uprights upstairs. (1) 25c (5000RF) 9/6 JoB slant-top in NE corner of Lower Level Non-Smoking Room. (8) 25c (5000RF) 9/6 JoB scattered about upstairs. I could not find any 9/6 5000 quarter machines on July 16. Almost all VP machines on the north side of top floor were removed. This is the area that used to have DDJ, Flush Attack etc. No shockwave, no FPDW, no 9/5 WHA and no 10/7 DB on this side of casino found. Downstairs remains intact and still many FPDW by Subway. Also noted that 8/5 super aces single line are in the 4 quarter game kings by front door, next to rail. (1) 25c FPDW slant-top in NE corner of Lower Level Non-Smoking Room. (1) 25c 10/7 DB slant-top in NE corner of Lower Level Non-Smoking Room. (1) 50c 10/7 DB upright outside the Bermuda Club showroom. (2) 25c FPDW slant-tops on the lower casino level between the main cashier and the buffet. (4) 10c/25c/50c Multi-Strike 10/7 DB slant-tops on top floor west/central. (4) 10c/25c/50c Multi-Strike 8/5 SA slant-tops on top floor west/central. (4) 10c/25c/50c Multi-Strike NSUD slant-tops on top floor west/central. (4) 10c/25c/50c Multi-Strike 9/6 JoB slant-tops on top floor west/central. 3X points on Mon and Wed in August. There is a 2x3 bank of quarter mixed slant-tops in NE corner of Lower Level Non-Smoking Room.. One is FPDW, another 10/7 DB, a Jacks 9/6/5000, Bonus, 8/5 WHA and one other. I think this is the bank that disappeared upstairs when they moved the slot club. A negative is that the uprights ("under the escalator by the arcade") have vanished. These were nickels, but one was a 9/6 Jacks. River Palms moved the slotclub, so refenences to it are out-of-date. .25 AA- still in the same place, by railing on the top floor in the south end. .25 FPDW in 4 GK- same place, by railing on the top floor southwest. .25 FPDW in 4 GK- same place downstairs, but pirate ship was dismantled. Reference should be between Bermuda Club and Leroy's Sportsbook. The slot club is now located by registration desk in the north end. At the RP, Laughlin, the single FPDW on the top floor near the north change booth is currently MIA -- there's construction in that area. RP reinstated the .10 and .50 levels on the four MS games. It looks like full pay for all three denominations. This reverses the April 2004 move to just quarters. Inventory looks good. They are tearing down the Pirate Ship. Hopefully a new bar with decent VP will appear. Double points/comps continue on Wednesdays. In Winners Wharf we are down to one .50 Jacks and no $1 Jacks. They got converted into exotics (DDB and WHA). So there are now two $1 WHA. Monthly mailers continue, with the twice monthly bounces and room offers. Just returned from River Palms, Laughlin. They have returned two FPDW Slant Tops IGT's to the floor. Location is second floor between the main cashier and the buffet just past the dollar - location and game details are unknown. Two full pay dueces slant top machines have reappeared at the River Palms, side by side, on the lower casino level north of the cashier. Multi-Strike is now only 25 cents. No more 10 and 50 cents options. The four FPDW at the top of the escaltors are MIA as of 3/16. Same for the two FPDW near the main cage on the lower casino level although one of them has been reinstalled along the east wall on the same level. I don't think the River Palms COD deal has fully been explained on the vpFREE forums, so here goes: There is an area located on the lower casino level, south end, called Winner's Wharf. It has existed for a few years now. It used to be deliniated by heavy ropes, which the new owners (Columbia Sussex) deemed unnecessary. The cocktailers (very good daytime) enjoy the new setup. In this area are about 100 IGT machines in fullpay versions (slant- tops and uprights) in .25,.50 and $1 (DB only in quarters). You swipe your slot card at a kiosk located under the Winners Wharf sign. You get a random (?) personal COD, which is good for 24 hours or until you hit it. The deal is a 100 coin bonus or, if you have a facecard kicker, the payoff is doubled. You get the floor person's attention and show them your slip of paper. They verify that your machine is loaded and match the ticket to the slot card. They walk over to the kiosk and generate a new personal COD ticket for you. Usually, just a quick handpay for the bonus payoff and you are playing again! Since you can play full-pay Jacks, Double Bonus, Bonus, Double-Double Bonus and the rare White Hot Aces (9/5) in Winner's Wharf, the COD can add a nice premium (.3-1.3%). It is in a quiet area of the casino with the bath rooms, poker room, Sportsbook and the new promotions stage adjacent. Walk out the near south doors and you can fall into the swimming pool complete with a nice view of the river. It really is one of Laughlin's best all around VP plays. OK, there are 12 (not 11) upright FPDW by Subway/Shipwrecked Bar upstairs. Four next to railing out of eight games, 4 each in the two 8 game carousels. They alternate, so your partner can't BS with you playing Deuces. This is an upgrade from the noisy foyer, foot traffic and marble floors. A new stage has been set up next to the Shipwrecked bar. The bathrooms are close. This could be an enjoyable place to play in the evening during live tunes. They moved the promotion stage downstairs next to Winners Wharf. This means you can keep playing while you wait for your name to be called, a huge plus. Mailers got stronger, almost as good as before C/S took over. Promos are pretty good too. River Palms is in transition. Employees are disgruntled across the board, mainly due to lack of info/communication. The bartenders gave up the flowered shirts for formal wear. The pirate ship is supposed to go. The snack bar is history. Winners Wharf still is intact, but the ropes all gone demarking the area. The Bermuda Club is now closed after the show. Now there is a silly food coupon policy, either use the kiosk coupon or comps, but not both. Give me a break. I noticed the comp rate is cut, .1% huh. Drawings for November are weekends only. No more free BJ tourneys. It takes 375 points ($1875 coin-in) for a lousy promo t-shirt. Has anyone actually seen an upgrade? Food any better? Stayed in a nicer comped room? Slept in any triple sheeted 500 count thread beds? Ok, here's the current point system (as of Nov 6): $5 of video poker play gets you one point. 500 points gets you $5.00. Comes out to 0.20% Cashback. Your old points have been divided by 20 (10,000 old points were worth $5 -- now you got 500 new points, still worth $5). Also 500 points now gets you $2.50 in comp. Comes out to 0.1%. I asked for a copy of the 8 1/2 x 11 sheet with all the cashback & comp info depending on what you play, etc. at the slot desk. No, No, No - I was told it was the only copy she had (nor could I find this info posted in public view anyplace in the casino). Conclusion: The system is in a state of flux. All FPDW & AA are still intact although some repositioning of machines has occurred. River Palms recently made an area by the slot club a non-smoking section. They snuck in some Gamemakers/Keno Plus versions. Six of these quarter games against the south wall had "All American" VP in them. I believe this is the first time AA has been mentioned for Laughlin. The VP historians will have to confirm. We have stayed many times at the RP. I would recommend the tower rooms and NOT recommend the rooms in the three story section. No hair dryers but they do have coffee makers, the soap and shampoo are "on the wall in dispensers". The buffet is sometimes hit or miss but the coffee shop is ok and the Italian restaurant is ok. Have not tried their "upscale" restaurant. |
