9/5 TB+ (99.8%) 25c/50c/$1/$2 MD in a bank of 12 on the Ibar side. 8/5 SDDB (99.7%) (1) 25c/50c/$1/$2 MG/MD in a bank of 12 on the Ibar side. 9/7 TDB (99.6%) (2) 25c/50c/$1/$2 MG/MD in a bank on the Ibar side. 9/6 JoB (99.5%) (1) 25c/50c/$1/$2 MG/MD in a bank on the Ibar side. 8/5 BP (99.2%) (1) 25c/50c/$1/$2 MG/MD in a bank on the Ibar side. bonus reward credits varies, depending on machine played and whether you win or lose. $1 (3 Play) 9/6 JoB in high-limit area. There is $1 (3/5 Play) in high limit area. The 9/7 DB, 9/6 DDB, and 8/5 BP set of 8 slant-tops located in the far left side of the Mardi Gras Casino are missing. Also missing are hundreds of other video poker machines stretching from the old poker room area about 2/3 of the way up to the restrooms at the back of the Mardi Gras. The lower-paying, .25 cent progressives against the wall remain (we hit it last night). One row of .05 25-coin progressives remain; the other row is gone. There is also some Super Times Pay remaining, plus the second row of slant-tops against the wall (non-progressive) remain. This is a very small VP area now. A sign in the Poker room area directs you to the Island Casino for video poker (area where the noodle bar used to be). In place of these hundreds of missing Mardi Gras VP machines is a walled- off construction area. On the wall is a picture of a bar area which looks a lot like the (gulp!) I-Bar. At the point of the new bar (where the I-Bar has stand-up blackjack), the picture shows what looks like an automated roulette area, plus one blackjack table. From the diagram, it looks like there are no video poker bartops - that may have been an oversight by the artist. To the rear of the new bar is what looks like a stage - (oh no!). In a brief walk-through, we did not find any of the Mardi Gras machines in other locations. Harrah's machines do have a way of showing up after a few days, weeks, or months. Let's hope so, especially for the set of 8 premium slant-tops. On Wednesday nights, a lounge combo plays on the I-Bar stage in the Island casino. Last night there was a 3-man group who sang mostly Sinatra songs. Apparently Greg Worzel is no longer there, except maybe in the diamond room on Sunday nights. He was great; much better than the Sinatra guys. Anything is better than that cacophony of ex-cheerleader fluff they do at the I-Bar on weekends. (1) $1 PROG 9/7 DB. Harrahs has downgraded all 4 of the machines in the high-limit room Mardi Gras side, basically they took 1% off each machine DB now 9/7/239, Dueces now 15/9, DDB now 9/6/239, and the TB now 8/5. Basically there is nothing in the whole store that you can count on except the 10 machines on the Island side that are .25 thru $2 denom and have the big flashing signs on them. They are very popular with the .25 crowd that have no idea how to play, so they could survive quite a while. (1) $1 PROG on the Island side near the high - limit room has been relocated and this machine has been corrected to some much lower paytable and is not playable. In the bank of 'playable' games with the signs on them that I mentioned in a prior msg. There is (1) Super Double Double 99.8% .25/.50/$1/$2. I never programmed in this game and did not know the EV, Harrahs has the sign at 99.8%, but VPfree has it listed as 99.7%, I will check it soon and report back. Sorry you didnt find the 9/6 jacks machine, it is definitely there on the island side between the entrance and the noodle bar, I check this one frequently, it is in a 12 machine (6 back to back) upright bank and almost every game is 99%+ and they are MD .25,.50,$1,$2 each machine is a different single game (no MG), but there is a good variety for the .25 level players. On the Mardi Gras side along the right wall there is a high-limit VP/slot area and a carosel (sp?) with only 4 machines they are 10/7 DB, 10/6 DDB, 9/5 TB+, and NSUD, they are $1,$2,$5 single line and single game machines, any 250 payoffs are shorted to 239 for the $5 players, but they are also shorted at all levels, so these games are all aprox. 99.7%, they are the best guarenteed plays at Harrahs STL. I thought I'd be playing 25c/50c/$1 9/6 JoB, but I never found the lone "draw Poker" MD machine on the Island side of the casino. I'd have to say this machine was MIA, as I got some very specific directions on it's location via posts in vpFree_StLouis and I checked every machine in the area around the noodle bar and never found it. I settled for a lone Island side 25c 8/5 Bonus poker machine for much of my 25c play. I also never found the single machine(s) that contained $1 10/6 DDB nor the (1) $1 NSUD machine. These were on the Mardi Gras side and I must admit my search on that side was not exhaustive. I was content to play $1 BP on the island side. The Mardi gras was much more chaotic and there were a lot more machines I would have had to search, many of which were occupied. There are 12 machines 6 back to back, and almost everyone of them are 99% or higher, there is 1 JOB 9/6, 1 Bonus Poker 8/5, 2 DB 9/7/5, 2 DDB 9/6, 1 SDDB 8/5, and 2 Triple Dbl Bonus 9/7, there was also Triple bonus and Dueces Bonus, but I didnt right down the schedule and I didnt know them by heart, but my guess is that they are close to 99%. As you face the machines, your back will be to the exit turnstiles. Red glass says, "Draw Poker". Warning, there may only be one machine of the game you like most, so be prepared to have an alternative game for backup. Harrahs STL: The (1) 8/5 Aces/Faces is no more. It's now 6/5. $10-coinin = 1 Reward Credit = $0.01 comps on their FP machines. NO 'bonus' reward credits on FP machines here, which makes comps a straight 0.1%. I did find (1) $1 9/7 DB machine on the progressive back on the Island side near the highlimit room. This progressive is frequently over $6K, which is the 100% mark when playing 9/7DB. Harrah's still has the 3 almost full pay games on the Mardi Gras side in the high-limit Slot/VP area. They added a bunch of All American games, but the 4 of a Kind only pays 150, so it is a bad game. They also added a bunch of triple play Pick Em games and as usual the pay scale is short and no good. The 9/5 Double Double bonus bank (8 games) w/progressive is pretty active and the other day the royal was over $11,000 (over 100% but very volitile) Over on the Island side there still are a few 99% $1 games, but that is nothing to get excited about. Harrahs also added just recently a bank of 8 Bonus Poker 7/5 (base 98%) with 4 progressives, so this may occasionly offer a playable game. There is NO fullpay .25 games at Harrahs now. There are (3) .25 machines that you could play in a pinch : (1) 8/5 Bonus, (1) 9/7 DB and (1) 8/5 AF. The $1 10/7 DB I reported has their quads shorted to 239 ala Casino Queen. With Harrahs miserable cashback, this play is marginal at best. The $1 10/6 DDB also has their quads shorted to 239. The $1 deuces game I mentioned is NSUD. The old $1 9/7 DB slanttop progressive on the Island side is no more. All Gamemakers are currently shutoff. I know the ones on the Island side were up briefly, and all PE was short. My guess is they are having problems with the TITO. I just went to Harrah's today and they are in the middle of updating most of thier VP machines from the old style to ticket pay machines. (yeah !!). The not so good news is that most of the machines are totally unplayable. The sort of OK news is that I did find a few decent (that is an opionion) machines. I will go back to try to inventory the quantity of these now that I know the return. Bonus poker 8-5 99.2% (0.25 thru $2) Double Bonus 9-7 99.1% (0.25 thru $2) Dbl Dbl Bonus 9-6 99% (0.25 thru $2) Triple Dbl Bonus 9-7 99.6% (0.50 thru $2) very volitile game everything else I checked was very bad. I was not able to check the return on Super Dbl Dbl or One Eyed jacks games, so if someone could help with that I would appreciate it. All the fullpay Pickem was yanked from Harrahs within the past 3 days. New Gamemakers have been installed but are 'Out of Service'. Harrahs has 8 - $1 9/7 DB progressive machines on the island side that are often close to or positive, and still have the 1 - $1 DB 10/7 on the mardi gras side but I have heard it will be update with most of the $1 video poker machines about 1/31/04.... no known changes in pay schedule, but very easily could happen, they updated some of the really bad $1 DDB 8/5 machines to allow multiple denom. of $1 to $25, but hopfully noone would play them. Pickem and 10/7 DB earn ZERO bonus credits which makes comps a pathetic 0.1%. Expect mailed CB of 0.1%. They opened a new Diamond room but don't expect comp drinks. They state it's because of Missouri Gaming Commission law. I guess 5 miles away at Ameristar they are breaking the law at their Star Club lounge. UPDATE on Diamond lounge : I have only been asked to produce my Diamond card - not ID like at the Rio or Harrahs LV. They normally put out a hot food selection every afternoon and keep hot food out until at least 10pm on the weekends. Range : Quality has dipped significantly in the past year. Very disappointing as this was once an outstanding steakhouse. Antonio's : Very good Italian, but menu prices are high. Not a good value for your comp dollars. If comp dollars are of no concern, I would not hesitate to eat here. It is a white tablecloth restaurant with excellent service. Buffet : Very average. You're better off going to Ameristar and eating there "Mega-buffet". Jesters Deli : Generous amounts of meat on their sandwiches and a 50% cash discount to Diamond card holders. 1 Base Reward Credit is earned for every $5 coin-in on reel slot machines ($10 video poker), and Bonus Reward Credits are awarded based on the type of machine played. On average you get 2 Bonus Credits and 1 Base Credit for every $10 of VP coin-in (probably fewer Bonus Credits for positive VP machines). It takes 3,000 (increased APR 2005 to 4000) Base Reward Credits in the year to get Platinum status and 10,000 to get Diamond status. Comps don't expire for 6 months, and are banked indefinitely as long as one point is earned every 6 months. Also, comp points can be used at any Harrah's property. Most Marketing offers aren't deducted from your Reward Credit balance. Hosts can over-ride the new Rewards Program to take care of "good" players. Hosts can't give discretionary comps until all reward credits are used up. Diamond Lounges now require Photo ID to get in and usually you can only take 1 guest. Be sure to have your Diamond/Platinum cards to avoid lines for buffets (find one on the floor if you don't have a card so you can avoid long lines). |
